Most will not see the future as the maintenance cost on a car worth nothing won't encourage anybody to keep them going. Right now a high mileage 335i isn't even worth selling. Better off parking it for 25 years while you drive whatever you drive and wait for the then 25-29 year olds looking for that classic old school first gen 335i
What eventually happens if you take care of your high mileage 335 (Let's say at 140k miles), or at least do most of the maintenance to it?

Fronts under warranty due to a fairly odd cause - I took the car to a conference, and it sat out in rainy weather for a week. The rotors rusted, and did not clean off quite right. I had a very slight braking vibration at high speed. Mentioned it at a service, and the dealership replaced them. Rears are still original. I drive it almost entirely on the highway, and it's a stick... Will need rear brakes in a year or two at current usage. I have five cars all-together, and no daily commute. Usage is a bit random. I drive what I feel like driving on any given day.

43K in 5.5 years. Drove it about 10K the first year, 3500 miles on my Euro Delivery trip. Much less each year since, 3700 last year. Did a nearly 2000 mile work trip with it recently, so this year may be more like 5.5K.

They're approaching 10 years old, most are not maintained, and big ticket items like turbos and injectors make people leery of buying them. Properly maintained/well optioned 335s seem to be holding their value fairly well.

Not sure how much the turbos cost, but I saw a guy change his injectors for around $200-$300 (Chinese injectors), but he said they are holding up pretty well after 20k miles.

Unlimited supply, yet limited demand for a car that *could easily need $5k in dealererahip maintenance repair deemed "normal", - i.e. Turbos and injectors.

My 54k mile 09 needed one turbo replaced(luckily under the 8yr/82k mile extended warranty of the turbos) and then I replaced a bank of injectors(09 model not covered by 2010/11 extended warranty nor was it part of the 07/08 recall.) If that work was done all at once at he dealer you're looking a pretty hefty repair bill..

These cars are, however, an amazing buy.. I didn't seek out a 335i at first, but was instead looking for a 12-18k car... everything I wanted was out of reach or "too old" for conventional financing(so no E39 M5's or W124 500E's). The 335 was just the most car for the money regarding modern style, luxury and performance. It's the newest car I've ever owned -- and I don't feel I'm missing out on performance having owned 5 M cars in the past..

My 53k mile 09 m sport was $16,400(base, auto).. and I bought it at a BMW dealer just 3 months ago.

Edit: after further review and overall consensus -- the winning answer is: "twurbos and injectors cost lotsa monies"
