studio strobes as many as you can get(it's never too many)
Off camera flash
reflector
Dark spot away from street lights with working plug for your lights
or portable battery for them( I always shoot in the dark ..that way I am in total control of the light)
Camera set between f14-18 at iso 100
tripod (if you don't have enough lights you might need to stack couple of images )
feel free to ask for some more
i still can't get over how good these photos look.. your car looks like liquid

Garage List
Camera: Sony Alpha A77
Lens: Sony Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar 24-70mm F2.8 SSM
Mode: Aperture priority & Manual combined
Focal length: 24mm & 30mm & 30mm
ISO: 100 & 100 & 800
Exposure: 1/640 & 1/500 & 1/160
F-Stop: f2.8 (For shallow depth of field)
ND8 and CPL filters were used to create better shallow depth of field and increased contrast.
Off camera flash was used for the 1st shot right behind the car with the power set at 1/4, and the 3rd shot set 1/8 flash power facing the wheel.

Tips: Don't hesitate to use external flash unit under bright sunny day. You can use the flash to light on the subject's highly shadowed area that is directly against the sunlight, to give the subject an overall good exposure.

I'll bite

Camera 7D
Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS
ISO 100-400
f5-f8
Aperture Priority or Manual
(I'm giving ranges because I'm away from the computer with the originals so don't have the exact specs, but these are the ranges I stick with for similar shots almost always)

The last 2 photos are tone mapped hdrs using 3 exposures (bracketed +-2ev), and used qtpfsgui, and balanced using gimp and rawtherapee. Looking back, I feel they're a bit too over processed for my tastes right now. The top two on the other hand were done in either Rawtherapee or Lightroom.

This thread is making me wanting to do a proper photoshoot... it's been too long.

I shoot exclusively in manual mode.

Picture #1
Camera: Canon EOS 7D
Lens: Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8
Focal Length: 20mm
Shutter Speed: 1/60 sec
Aperture: f/9
ISO: 100

on this one I wanted the slowest shutter speed that would let me hand hold the camera and still get a crisp clear picture (to try and maximize the motion blur). 1/60 was the lowest I could go, so I adjusted the aperture accordingly.

Picture #2
Camera: Canon EOS 7D
Lens: Sigma 10-20
Focal Length: 10mm
Shutter Speed: 1/800 sec
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO: 100

that is the info from one of the pictures, it is actually a 3 Exposure HDR image. It is almost impossible to use natural lighting and get a good exposure on my black rims as well as the rest of the car without using multiple exposures. I pretty much always shoot 3 bracket photos. Sometimes I will use HDR, sometimes I just use one of the three shots but then I have a few different lighting variations to pick from!

Picture #3
Camera: Canon EOS 7D
Lens: Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8
Focal Length: 21mm
Shutter Speed: 1/640 sec
Aperture: f/2.8
ISO: 100

HDR again like pic #2.

more pictures at my site...

You should be able to go down to 1/focal length shutter speed (1/20) on f/2.8

I tried going lower, but riding in a car on the freeway is bumpy as it was, any lower than 1/60 the car was too blurry. maybe i just don't have a steady hand!

OP get your d7000 out of auto. Use a different color profile like vivid. Work on composition.

N97? I had that phone. Pictures were great but the build quality sucked. My unlock slider broke off. Waste of $700.
