Installed M3 paddles on Pre-LCI E90 (sports steering wheel)
I got this set a while back and finally had the chance to install.
fit was perfect and no cuts/trims needed to the steering wheel. It's GREAT to be able to finally up/down shift properly. |

we asked how they work if on a regular paddle shift car both shift up or down. but on an m3 left and right do opposite things.

FWIW, I just did this on an LCI 2010 335. It had SSG paddles. It is truly plug and play. Now right side is only upshift and left side is only downshift.

Now, the M3 paddles, if you had a chance to actually read up on various threads that's covered this subject ad nauseam (search function helps), does only one thing on each side: the right side only sends + pulse, and the left side only sends - pulse to the transmission, therefore you get upshifts and downshifts only. Does that answer "anyones" question? Is the "you" plural in your case? We are the Borg? Sorry couldn't help it...not being mean, just a good 'o LOL. |

There's only one M3 paddles, and maybe it's your steering wheel? But if you have the sports package with existing buttons, my experience is that you don't need any trimming (see pictures). Have you tried installing and found you need to trim?

How much do M3 paddles usually run? Is it really better? How? To me it seems more convenient to have paddles that can do both functions, but this is my first car with paddles.
