I'm sure your turbos are fine I mean the n54 is just so noisy. All sorts of noises all the time lol. I'm used to it but my friends think all the engine noises sound like shit.
My girls 07 335i had 137k before we sold it. No rattle or whines.

I too have the whistle noise, only after starting the engine and then only for a few miles untl it starts to heat up.
For me it rater sounds like a sound caused by pressurized gases going through a small orifice.

There is no direct relation between the turbos rpm and the sound (wich would cause some sort of hardwired frequency in relation to the turbos rpm's)
but rather between the boost/catback pressure and the sound.
The sound immediately stops when going off throttle (when shifting), but the turbos themselves then still spool at high enough rpms wich should still cause the whistle,
wich is not the case.
My conclusion is that the whistle isn't caused by a mechanical part in rotation, but rather some sort of internal "leak" until parts are warming up.
Could be bad internal tolerances or worn shafts (perhaps even the wastegate lever shafts) or whatever else.
As even some brand new turbos are causing it I wouldn't worry too much, I really doubt BMW is selling broken genuine stock turbos.

don't know if this adds anything to the discussion but I never had this till I installed dp's hated it so much that after 3months of running these pulled them off and reinstalled factory dp's and now I still have the siren noise but a lot more faint then with them . noise is only when cold, after car warms up its completely gone.

Anybody have any theories they would like to throw out there? I have laid mine out. None have a clear conclusion however. Has anybody had a serious issue due to this noise?

my car sounded like crap. almost got to the point that I thought the turbos were going to explode. it would be a loud siren, then almost raspy if pushed a little more. and I'm not talking full throttle, maybe a third. especially in the taller gears. it was so loud, it was embarrassing and didn't want to pass anyone. Dealership called today and will be replacing them under cpo. they said it took them a while to narrow down and reproduce the sound. they must have not taken it on the highway. they also said it hasn't been common for them. they said they replace a lot for the wastegate though.

The siren is getting louder for me on this new set. Louder when cold, now takes a bit longer to go away.

Update: i have posted on this thread for the same siren sound that some of us have, including me. i have a jb4 g5iso and with the wastegate position set to 10 i have noticed the siren gone. Went back to 80 and sound was back. I tried it once more at 10 and it was gone. I hope that this may help out some for those that have this siren sound. It may not work for everyone depending on the condition of your wastegates. Its odd i know but it works for me.

Just got her back last night. The car is a whole new vehicle now. So smooth, no noise whatsoever. I had an idle issue and that's gone now too. Also smelled like I was burning oil. One turbo was leaking oil onto the exhaust.

Got another good word. The tech accidentally dropped my water pump and they replaced it in addition. Gotta love that. All covered under CPO.

Update, siren is audible when fully warm now. Just faint. 1,000 miles on new turbos.

I just got my DME flashed back to stock, and I will drive it stock through thanksgiving and then I plan to take it in and ask WTF?? I'm thinking they were bad parts from the get-go OR there was an install error.( I actually went back the day after because the car seemed to oscilate- not accelerate smoothly as I left the dealer- they said it was fine) I was afraid that after going back to stock they would quiet down some and then the dealer would tell me nothing is wrong. Happily, the car is now 100% OEM and still sound the same. Combine the sound with boost issues and random limp modes i've been getting....we'll see if the third time is a charm

I will keep the car stock until spring so that if this next set is messed up- I won't have to go through this ordeal AGAIN.
I know this post was from awhile ago, but just wanted to check up with you and see how to dealt with your situation.

I got my turbos replaced 700 miles ago and I'm also having the oscillation issue and the siren noise. My issue is I got my turbos replaced just under 82k and now I'm 500 miles over 82k :/

I don't think the turbo siren noise is any good indication of the turbos wearing out. The reason is I had the turbo siren noise for over 2 years and it never got worse. I probably had it for longer than that, even, since I immediately started hearing the noise upon getting more free-flowing intakes. The whistle/siren always went away once the oil warmed up and got slicker.

I had the exact same sound as in the first vid after I installed my DPs. I then adjusted the DP's to make sure they weren't touching anything and the sound went away completely.

Edit: I noticed the siren is still there under a left had turn only...
