Just stopping in to say hi, still lurking around a bit hoping to pick up a 335i sedan here in the next couple of months, at worst towards the end of the year.

Also going through the whole "to xdrive or not to xdrive" debate in my head, would be a no brainer but I have a bit of an elevation change from the main road up to my house and I'd hate to get stuck in the winter, but not sure I want to give up the driving dynamics for 4-5 days a year where it might be an issue. Compounded with since my wife hates to drive in the white stuff I could just take our Subaru on crap days.

Anywho, hope to see some folks around and hit up a local meet or two, if anyone cares to IM me (AWDPilot) so I can bounce some questions off as they come up I'd appreciate it.

Until then, drive safe

I drive in snow 5-6 months of the year, going to work and to the mountains for skiing. During the summer, I don't track my car and it's a 328, so the RWD advantage isn't worth it to me. I love the xDrive dynamics in dry and wet, so I have no complaints.

Lowering my coils tomorrow or Saturday. Any meets this weekend or next?

Welcome! I like my xi, but you'll be fine with a good set of winters on the rwd platform. The subie will come in handy when the snow gets really bad. The awd system on those cars are leaps and bounds better than the xdrive system.

Fast Five on Sunday. Natick IMAX. I'm still undecided whether or not I'll be in attendance. Although I may make the trip out to see your new setup!

We'll see, it's hard enough to find a CPO LCI 335i sedan with a manual, and on top of that I want the MSport package.

I just missed one in CT, and looking via the CPO finder on BMWUSA has been slim pickings so far, but I have time and I'm not really in a rush, so something will come up .... eventually

Welcome aboard, and I love the Baby Stig avatar. As for xDrive, I personally don't think you need it. I'm sure it helps, but I made it through this last winter just fine with a set of Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds on 17" Rial Salernos. You will absolutely need a separate set of wheels and tires for the winter on RWD, though - RWD with the stock high performance runflats won't fly. Personally I prefer having high performance tires for summer and dedicated winter tires in combination with RWD over a set of all-seasons and xDrive.

Jer - I'm an Xi guy so I'm biased, I've had 2 rear drive cars in the past and run winter tires but still get stuck. I think its the only way to go in new england living

I just watched Fast Five and it was pretty good....IMO it was the best out of the series, good mix of cars (american, german, & japanese). The plot is similar to Ocean 11 & Italian Job but on steroids...good action/driving.
