Alloy wheels/ Spacers

Hi
New on board need some help.
I have a set of Style 222. ET 44 fitted with Winter Tyres size 205/55/16 from my 118D , ( now sold ) I was hoping they would fit on my just purchased 318 LCI E90. the Alloys on this are style 339 ET 34 with 225/45/17 tyres, if I was to purchase spacers plus longer bolts could i fit the 16s to the E90, I am guessing that 10 mm or 13 mm would be the size of spacers i require ? , also is fitting spacers a safety issue, or shoud i just put the wheels & tyres on Ebay and start again

Thanks

10/12mm hubcentric spacers + longer bolts would do (never heard of 13" spacers)

H&R do 10mm hubcentic spacers
Eibach do 12mm hubcentric spacers.

No safety issues with spacers,as long as you tighten the bolts sufficiently

Back again !!, Can i purchase either 10 or 12mm spacers, as i mentioned before, the alloys i want to fit are 16" with an ETof 44, style 222. I have seen that the 16" alloys for the E90 style 268 are ET 31. The Alloys i have fitted at the present time are style 339 with an ET of 34 with tyre size 225/45/17, whereas the tyres on the Alloys i hope to fit are 205/55/16 . I hope Im the only one confused

You need to know the wheel widths as well - not just tyre sizes.

If you look on the Wheels & Tyres sction of the forum, there's a calculator which will tell you exactly what the difference will be between the wheels you've listed - and you can work out from there what spacers you'll need.

Just a quick question. If somebody just adds spacers to oem wheel, should that person inform the insurance?
Sometimes I get tempted to add spacers on my rear axels but not sure whether I should go for it due to insurance complexities.

Hi

I Did what you suggested and these were the results , but Im still uncertain what spacers to buy

3mm MORE clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT 23mm

Based on that info a 20mm spacer would do.

We carry the BMS 10mm and 12mm spacers. 12mm are guaranteed to be rub free when OEM. 15mm or 18mm may need arches adjusted.

Group Buy price recently was £75 a pair delivered (RRP £85 + delivery Cost). We can offer that to you as a new e90 member

If you're downsizing wheels, I reckon the 20mm spacer is right. I've got 15mm spacers on the rear of mine with the OE 18" MV3 wheels and it looks 'right' now.

Im sorry to seem rather stupid, but when you suggest 20mm spacer does that mean a 10mm spacer on either side , as you have guessed I am new to this

I have a 320d m sport plus and has the mv 3 alloys in 18 ".... I have a set of wheels and winter tyres what i used on my 118d msport... They were off an E46 shape BMW... i had to fit 20mm spacers to each wheel and they are fine.. without them they caught the brake caliper, i have had no problems with them at all...... the size of them were 205/55/16... hope this helps.
