Sat nav
Ive used my sat nav about 4 times now and it doesn't recognise any post codes. It always leaves me short on finding my destination so I asked the dealer if they could update the sat nav. They told me it would cost me £200. I've had the car 2 months and it cost me £18k. Should the dealer have updated it and if not how can I get this sorted without forking out 200 quid ?

Google is your friend
There's a number of sites which will sell you an up to date nav CD for a few quid

My DVD is a straightforward copy of a genuine BMW 2010 disc, and it works perfectly, so I can't see why other copies wouldn't work.

You don't say if you have an LCI car with a Hard Drive nav system. If so you are stuck with the dealer, but if they will load the latest maps and update the software to support the 7 digit post code search for £200 then that's a very good price.
If you don't have a pre LCI car (you will have 2 disc slots in your head unit, one DVD, the other CD), you can get new discs off the internet for £25-30. These discs also have 7 digit post code search and speed cameras, but they will only search the post code in a rather convoluted way. If you have the 'know how' you can download the maps and burn to a DVD for free. Unless updating the maps was part of the deal when you bought the car, you stand no chance of them doing it for free. |
