"Coding" cable same as AutoEnginuity or Bavarian Tech cable?

Maybe a stupid question - are these cables the same? Or can either an AE or BT cable also be used for coding?

I'm planning to buy a scantool (either AE or BT) as well as get into coding. No need to buy duplicated equipment.

no, you will need a DCAN+ INPA cable to code. ask me how i know
try reading the sticky's or doing a search, they can answer most of your questions in the future.

I have been reading the stickies, but the ones I have found, at least, are self-contained. They haven't said whether it is or is not the same as cables used for other purposes. They just say "go buy this...".

Thanks for the 100% confirmation.

BT cables use the FTDI USB to RS232 chipset, but they are NOT compatible with K+DCAN cables. You need BT cable for BT software and a K+DCAN for INPA/NCS/etc. No interchange between the two is possible--at least as far as I've been able to ascertain.
