Great shots!
I was snowboarding there a couple of years ago; it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Thank you

Turns out most pros are right - it's not about spending money on better camera gear, but spending money to get out to places.

There's quite a few of them, in fact I think I used all the lenses I brought with me besides the standard 18-55mm.

I used:

Nikon Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6 VR (River, action shots)
Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D (Snowmobile, snowboards, sunglasses)
Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 (Everything else and a few snowmobiles)

on a Nikon D60

Nice shots. How do you like that Tamron? I need something wider occasionally. I shoot with a 17-55 2.8 most of the time.

The Tamron is fine outdoors given that there's enough light. I wouldn't hesitate to put the thing on a tripod indoors though. Its lack of any vibration reduction and an f-stop of 3.5 either requires you to use a flash or tripod to get rid of blur. But again, given that there's enough light, you should be fine.

Its auto-focusing is slow, loud, and it has a hard time of finding something to focus on, so most of time you're directing it manually.

But since you have a 17-55mm 2.8, it sounds like you've got the dough to get the real thing. Get the Nikon instead, it really pays off for the better focusing.

The Tamron is supposedly the worst compared to the Sigma and Tokina counterparts, as Ken Rockwell's review says.
