I have successfully retrofitted a CIC system into my 2009 328i Xdrive Sedan.
I am currently using an emulator.I have coded in Voice Activation and it is working fine. I have pulled my 1B file and used the FSC generator to update to 2021 maps, coded Sirius Satelite Radio and have it running fine as well. I am using an ebay BT box for streaming that I had connected to my old professional HU and it is working fine as well.

At some point, I'd like to swap to a combox and set up BMW Apps, BT Streaming (removing my ebay box and the emulator in the process) etc.

I know I need to be on C1a firmware to be able to unlock this stuff.

When I pull up the CIC unit using NCS expert under JOBNAME = SG_CODIEREN my CIC shows up as: CIC.C08,A_CIC.IPO,CICR.PRG

If I change jobs to READ ECU under JOBNAME = CODIERDATEN_LESEN, my CIC shows up as: CIC.C1A,A_CIC.IPO,CICR.PRG.

Which firmware am I actually running based on this information?

Sounds like you already have C1A installed.

Does the CIC show the check mark?

It does show the check mark and based on that and what it shows when reading the CIC with NCSexpert, I would agree that it is already at C1A.

Yeah remember that "codieren" is the write operation.

Usually you read the modules first before coding to establish the existing versions.
