Headlight Washers not going down

Hi

I've heard of the top firing off in cold weather, but never this problem. Has anyone else had it? Is there an easy fix or is it a trip to the stealer?

I don't use OEM washer fluid but the squirters work fine so hopefully they can't use this as an excuse not to fix!

Any suggestions appreciated. Cheers!

I think if you take it to the stealers having not used OEM fluid then you will be turned away. The telescopic washers operate purely through the pressure of the washer system. There is no fancy electronic gadgetry that extends them out of the bumper. So non OEM fluid could be the cause of your problem stupid as it sounds.

I have intermittent issues with mine, one seems to leak occasionally and especially on a hot day. The other popped out the once but fortunately stayed in the bumper! This one also occasionally doesnt fully retract. I use OEM fluid now, however I dont know what was used for the first 2.5yrs of its life.

Oh really? Hmmm. Right, think I'll be draining the halfords fluid and sticking in OEM before I take the car in!

Thanks for your reply!

Are there any cheaper ways of buying the OEM stuff other than walking into a dealer?

I normally buy mine through BMW direct or parklane BMW on ebay. About 16 quid for 5litres.

My drivers side doesn't go in fully either, the passenger side is fine. Is this not a mechanical fault?
