PPK2 Comes with:

- Software
- Water cooler
- Better air vents
- Stronger fan
- Performance kit badge
- Bolts and stuff...

THATS IT! Nothing else! No intercooler

I would NEVER order the PPK2! I will be installing PPK1 (so only software) and the money saved will be invested in a extra oil cooler and charge pipe

Shucks. I always though it came with larger intercooler. I guess it's now even less worth the money for me, lol.

I still don't get it why BMW decided to deliver PPK2 with this hardware

I have a 2011 N55 135i with the PPKI - I agree with the OP's review - my experience is essentially the same. Glad I got it.

why is PPK2 worth it if you don't have M-Sport? Does it make a difference?

It won't make a difference, really. Only if you plan on pushing the car hard all the time or track it. If you have completely stock 335i and you get just the software and you're just a daily driver, you will be completely fine.

Even if you plan to push hard, get an oil cooler and/or intercooler!

If you are a daily driver without the weekly visit to the track, get the software and you're good!

Interesting. I think the first person on e90post who got the PPK installed (Ver 2) lost his fog lights. I guess you could tell them yea or nay on the air vents that come with the kit...a la 335is look/functionality. Is that what happened with you Doz...declined the vents?

You may have to call around and negotiate a little. I got lucky and priced on my dealer's website, which had a pricing mistake, so they honored it at $704 installed. Good Luck.
Yea I'm looking at the right one. It's probably priced differently because of the location, BMW of Bellevue (WA), everything is more expensive over here. Every accessory I look up, the price jumps up after I enter my zip code. I do have the coupe but I don't think that makes a difference.

PPK1 $825 uninstalled and $1056 installed.
PPK2 $1327.49 uninstalled and $2366.99 installed. That's ridiculous.

Yea- I'll just give them a call. Maybe I can have them give me a discount because my "Service Engine Soon" light has been on for the last few weeks. They replaced the fuel valve but now I have to wait for a new hose being shipped from Germany. It drives fine but light gets annoying. Pissed because I shouldn't have to be worrying about stuff like this with only 4500 miles.

Sorry to hear, man. Hopefully they fix it. Or, since you're close to Portland, you can call Kuni BMW here in Beaverton--where I bought mine--and talk to a guy named Clay. He sold me the thing for $675 shipped to dealer. You can just have them mail the software to your address or whatever, and then you can install it where you live and not get ripped off.

You don't feel that it is quicker? How is that possible?

Could you explain?

2011 335xi  [0.00]
Just had the PPK1 installed on Thursday. From the dealer it didn't feel that much different, but stomp on it a few times and it quickly adapts to becoming significantly quicker. The wife in particular loves the new power. Big thumbs up! Happily living without the Procede for now. Wondering if a charge pipe would be of any noticeable gain.

EDIT:
I can confirm getting a white envelope.

Really? Maybe they just stuck the exhaust on and that's it? I felt the difference instantly, and a very noticeable one.

Yes, they did. They said they couldn't install a stage 2 ppk otherwise.

I didn't decline the vents. I mused over having them put an m-sport bumper on the car, but they said they could make some nice and unobtrusive vent holes, which I never noticed until maybe a week after getting the car back. They did a pretty nice job, actually.

It's been a pleasure having a sleeper vehicle. It looks like a low rent 328, except for the dual exhaust, but it's nice and fast, has a great exhaust sound, can corner like nothing I've driven before, and the cops don't tail me.... much.

I think I was one of the first people who had the N55 ppk installed (a year ago).

Back then, it was only stage 2, there was no software alone option and I did loose the fog lights. Dealer installed the 335is air ducts without checking with me as they came with the kit.

It keeps me wondering what BMW ist thinking...

They introduced the PPK for the N54 with software and hardware.
They then introduced the PPK2 for the N55 with software and hardware.

Only months later they introduced the PPK1 with just software...

Is this because the N55 handles the heat better...? But why did they deliver the PPK2 with a water cooler instead of a oil cooler in the first case...
