Cost of one year of 335i ownership
Had the 335i e92 SE a year now, and here are some facts and figures. Plenty of value (BHP per £££) to be found by anyone buying one of these used right now.
Bought for 22.5k, private sale est £16.5k, so £6000 depreciation Bought with 25k miles on, now done 52k miles, Ave MPG = 26 Est Fuel Cost = £5200 of premium fuel Cost of tyres, tax and routine maintenance = £1800 so far (cheers to m3 fast for two front tyres) So overall cost to date = £13000 to do 27000 miles, hence 48p/mile Fun Factor = High Problems = more than I would like - 4 visits for sort coils/plugs/injectors (last problem April 2010), 1 recent visit for new HPFP and 1 visit in the summer for the bonnet to be repainted under warranty. Not bad overall given combination of speed, economy and practicality. Will be up for sale at Easter, next car could be XF, XK, 911, M3, S4 or even the new 5 GT depending on funds |

I am 2 months in to ownership of my 335i, I hate looking at your estimated market value, made my heart sink as I got mine BMW AUC and obviously paid loads more than you can pick one up private sale, not looking forward to working out the depreciation in a year or so! Glad you enjoyed your year of ownership though!

How does the cost compare to the 330d Paul?

Its cost me roughly the same per mile, but only because I bought a cheaper car (spent just over £30k on the 330d) in the first place. Fuel is simply 26mpg v 36 mpg. |

I see my car primarily as a tool to do my job, the fact its a 335i is a bonus. Why not work it out?
Didnt realise you did so many miles. I actually rang about yours about 2 days after you'd put a deposit on it as we were looking for cars around the same time 38, you tell me! Cheers Carl, how you coping without yours? |
