Fuel Pump died? FILE A COMPLAINT!

I have filed a complaint, everyone else that had pump problems should also file a complaint

i dont have the 335 yet, can i file that complaint or do i need to put my VIN, or provide a proof that mine failed?

Good long term idea but probably won't help those suffering right now coming to the end of the road with there case.

it asks for a VIN, but you dont have to put it in.... i wouldnt file a complaint unless yours actually died... there are enough people with dead pumps for this to work... but of course it takes time, and i think the more pressing problem is that even if there was a recall, judging by the fact that new june build cars are dying with 50 miles on them, bmw doesnt have a fix for it yet, so a recall would be pointless!

If the media is involved, bet you BMW CEO would put out something. I remember last year when Consumer Reports did a survey indicating BMW 3 series and Benz C-class were the most unreliable cars, according to owners who did their daily driving and sending in their experiences to CR. Benz immediately sent you a rebuttal and promised to take of its customers. However, we did not hear anything from the BMW camp. And now the fuel pump and oil cooler retrofit issues. There were also exploding sunroof problems reported as well, however not prevalent.

What would you hope to get out of a recall? There already aren't enough parts to go around. Imagine if everyone who has a 335 brought it in to get the fuel pump replaced. The wait would be 20x what it is right now.

I am positive that this issue has been raised to the highest levels at BMW and the fuel pump supplier. BMW is making payments and supplying loaners to people with the fuel pump issue. If they do a recall, they won't be doing that any more.

Maybe the supplier hasn't even determined the root cause of the problem. Until that happens, there is no fix and there is no recall.

B.S. With that kind of mentality nothing would ever get accomplished. Enough complaints would put a firecracker under BMW's ass to put all their resources and $$$ in resolving this issue.

WE have to start something. If you don't ask, you don't get, I always say. And another thing is all talk and no action is not gonna get us anywhere either. We have to have concrete and unified action. Monday morning I will call BMWNA and address the FP issue and ask them what's their plan of attack. If they tell me, "we'll fix it as the pump fails, one by one," then I'll tell them, they will have a letter from my attorney addressing the concern and that I will send in my BMW driving experience to consumer reports, edmunds, and all other car magazines.

What "issue" is it that you want solved? That it takes a month to get the part? Or that the fuel pump is failing? There is conflicting info on whether or not there is a new fuel pump; that issue may already be solved.

I haven't heard of any. Then again, this is E90post, not E60post. When did the first 535 roll off of the assembly line?

I find it funny how some of you are not happy at the way BMW is dealing with this. They are not stupid, they know prolonging this will hurt their sales in the future, they didn't become this rich by being this stupid. I'm sure they are finding a solution to this problem, a recall will surely be made, but how are they going to do it without the parts? Your dealership is the one taking care of you.

BMW will issue a recall once they have this part mass produced, and it takes over a year for them to issue a recall on a car. the 01 M3's had the same problem with their rod bearings, it took over a year for that to be recalled as well.

Complain to your dealership if they are not taking care of you,

Mine treated me very well, i took the car in, they give me a loaner of choice, in my case i got another 335i to drive and to rack up miles on, took it to a couple road trip.

in the meantime my car sits in the garage awaiting the fuel pump, it doesn't rack up mad miles that i drive and depreciate, got money back from BMWNA, i got my 200 dollar back for my alignment done, and is waiting for my extra front lip which i don't need but they are willing to give me.

First year production car will always have problems, we are the guinea pigs, they are still testing and tuning the engine and its components. Either learn to live with it, or wait a few years and buy the car.

And we already know that there are some March (and maybe even some April) production 335s that have had fuel pump issues.

What I'd like to know now is what the issue is. Why are they failing and is it a design issue or is it a quality control issue?
