$40,900 MSRP. What price should I ask for?

Hello. I am looking at a 328xi coupe for the wife.

I believe the invoice on this car is around $37,500. MSRP is $40,900. What should I ask off MSRP? What is reasonable? By the way I am in Pittsburgh with four area dealerships.

Thank you for any responses.

I am getting my e92 335i for $1000 over invoice, despite the demand for the e92 335's being so high.

with that being said you shouldn't pay any more than $1000 over invoice. I am also buying mine vs. leasing but that should not make a difference

Never work down from MSRP.

Always work up from dealer invoice.

$38,250 is about right.

There is lease financing and auto loan financing. Auto loan and lease financing is just like you paid full in cash..since the bank you go thru pays the dealer that way. However, dealerships can make more money on you with leasing by giving you a worse money factor than they get..and essentially making a few more hundred off the deal that way. You gotta be careful that they don't give you a good price over invoice on the lease purchase..but then stick it to you on the money factor.
