Tips or hints please.

I tried installing my Mtec angel eyes last weekend, wheel off no problem, fender liner off no problem, then I got to the cover over the back of the bulb. After an hour I gave up, I could not get the top and bottom tabs to release at the same time no matter what I tried. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

That's where you install the headlight bulb, not the angel eye.
The angel eyes go from above the headlight.
Open your hood and you'll see a cover on top.

yea man, open your hood and there is a cover that you pop up. It's also in the user manual. It's a really tight space though.

Guys..he has a e90. It is different than the e92/93

You need to get a long medium size flat head. pry the bottom by "twisting" the driver just pop the tab out. Use your other hand to prevent the tab from locking into place and then use the same logic for the top. You may have to twist a little harder but as you twist, apply outward pressure on the cover with your other hand and it should pop off easily.

What Desi said is basically what I did to get the cover off. I feel your pain, it took a bit to get my passenger side one off but the driver side came off pretty easily (perhaps cause I had a better idea what I was doing). Good luck!

i suggest you try prying the top first downwards till you hear the click and it will be easier to get the bottom because you see it there. make sure you have lights to assist you! goodluck bro! also there is a vid on youtube that is great to follow!

Worth it though as e90 have perfect and even light illumination around the rings (unlike the e92 and e93)

I was always jealous of the E90 Angel Lights.

Just did mine today. Yeah, the top tab is a pain because you can't see it. Basically just angle your flat head up and insert it as deep as you can to catch the top edge of the tab. Then twist. It should pop out slightly immediately. And then the bottom is a no brainer.

Once you get your cover off, the next hard step is to unscrew the far Torx screw holding the light. You can't see it so you'll need to feel for it with your finger and guide the screw driver in to seat properly.

I found this guy's writeup very helpful when installing new HID bulbs.

He's got some good tricks for getting the mentioned cover off (along the same lines as mentioned by others here)

Yeah.. I know EXACLTY what you're talking about.

Your best bet is to get a butter knife or something very slim. DON'T USE FORCE.. because you can't really see what you're doing. My tips for this are:

1. Line it up properly so that it's exactly where the opposing side tab is
2. Be gentle - If you are straining then you don't have the clip under the knife
3. Take the top tab off first and then the bottom

I swap my LED's without removing the wheel, with very little problems after I followed these steps. The housing clips are the worst part by far.

Good Luck
