No .. mines shiny. To be honest I don't really understand the logic behind blacking out the grilles, because to me it just makes it look like the standard grille for a 4 cylinder car.

But to each their own.

Oh, so the 4 cylinders have black grille? Didn't realise.
I'm in two minds...I like the menacing look, missus thinks it looks like there's a hole where the grille should be

Could argue that chrome presence makes it look like an SE model e.g. BMW put "high gloss black shadowline" around windows rather than chrome on sport models (vs SE models) so why not Grille ? Just a thought.

No offense to anyone but I also can't understand the presence of wood interior on any car destined to be 'sporty' - wood = not sporty.

The 4 cylinder cars have a chrome surround with black slats. I think all the 6 cylinder cars have chrome slats - the 330i does anyway.

The modified grille is a black surround and slats. So for me it's just a little too much like the 4 cylinder grille.

BTW the msport high gloss trim doesn't just replace the SE chrome trim ... it also replaces matt plastic trim to the rear of the door mirrors and the door pillars. I didn't realise this until I got my car and it's a really nice little detail.

I understand what you mean, I was uncertain when I first tried it on the car (which is simple excerise in case you have a lease car!). But it does give the car a more sporty look similar to the S Type Jag Sport (dirty words I know)... I'm just going through an anti chrome phase and this grill works well with the black paint and blackline lights - really brings out the alloys... Plus I didn't want my car to look like any other E90 out there. :rocks:

I just wanted to see a comparison of the blacked out grille and the chrome one next to each other ....

Boinging - is it the same high gloss finish as the shadowline?

I prefer this photo

The grill is gloss (you can get matt finish) so when polished looks the same as trim.

It looks better in real life and makes the front of the car look lower and wider than the chrome does. (IMHO!)

Trouble is I may have to send the car to the dealer/bodyshop for some work at short notice. I just don't have the time to swap back. The lease company will ask whats going on - Its happened to a few colleagues before - they've had to answer to general manager for mutilating the car

If this grille is shiny like my mirrors and black shadowline then it'd look great on the car.

Its shiny but not "reflective" like shadowline - Haven't waxed mine yet but I reckon if you did, it would "shiny up" lovely.

You buggers. I haven't even got mine yet and I have two mods delivered, considering mods three and four, and now there's this one!

I opted out of the car scheme this time luckily. Though seriously you could change this back to the standard grill in 10 mins, it's literally 6 screws for the top bits and the main bit just pulls out.

Be careful though once you start modding it does become addictive!

You're tempting me ... but I worked long and hard for my 3.0 litre engine (well not that hard actually if I'm being honest) and my chrome grille is a symbol of my toil.

Black does look good though.

I know what you mean, it's like debadging an M3!

Though I knew it was looking good, when a guy in a Range Rover Sport at the petrol garage, looked across and said "Is that the new sport model? Looks nice in all black..." Made me giggle...

I'm determined not to have too much bling on my next car. I've had at least 3 acts of vandalism against my current car and I'm pretty confident most were inspired by it being a bit pimped. I suspect if it was pretty stock it would have gone unnoticed. Maybe not.

I had noticed the split rims

Personally I'm not into anything too flash - I like the stock look.

I actually felt a little embarassed about the 19 inch rims on my 530d

My e90 is totally stock (except for the blacklines - which are pretty subtle).
