Using any good sealant will work like megs nxt. Using a caranuba would be pointless, it would not last enough and would not handle enough heat for you to get any results. what i do is i seal the rims with nxt, remove most of it, and then do a final wipe down with 303 aerospace protectant.

i bought a long hair brush at diaso just for the wheels. I dont have a chrome lip on my wheel, but my wheel have tons of holes that is a bitach to clean..

sometimes i use those wheeel cleaners, but i dilute it about 1/4 water 3/4 solution first so it doesnt damage the paint as much.. much faster to clean brake dust!

+ ya, better apply a wheel wax/sealant before u mount the wheels, 100x easier than when you wheels are mounted.

Last time i checked, NXT was a carnauba not a sealant. And it doesnt last that long, maybe like 2 days max.

Poorboys wheel sealant or Rejex 1-2 times a month as a protectant and do regular maintenance with a QD.

First off I would make sure I have a good amount of MicroFiber towels to ensure you are not scratching the surface. Buy at least 12, but if you could buy more that would be a good idea. They are great for every aspect of detailing and every quality detail begains with quality MF towels. You can use these for everything, but I would not use them to dry a car or wax a car. If you would like more information on the right MF towels for every part of a detail then just respond to this post and I will lead you in the right direction. But these will be great for detailing your wheels:

http://www.detailedimage.com/DI-Micr...se-Towel-P103/

Second you will want to buy a good wheel cleaner. The best one currently on the market IMO is P21s wheel gel. But only use this if the wheels are really dirty and you plan on applying protection after the wash, for this will strip wax's and sealants. For a quick wash on wheels that have had protection recently applied then I would use a basic car wash soap that is not strong like ChemicalGuys Max SudsII. Here is a link to the wheel gel and the wash soap:

Wheel Gel:

Soap:
http://www.chemicalguys.com/Car_Wash..._p/cws_101.htm

Third I would buy two brushes. One for cleaning the inside of the wheel and one for cleaning the face.

For the inside I would buy this brush:

http://www.autogeek.net/ezdebrfca.html

For the face of the wheel I would buy this brush:

http://www.detailersdomain.com/index...ROD&ProdID=195

Lastly I would seal the wheels for protection. The best looking sealant IMO is Jetseal109. It does not last the longest but it looks amazing and I use it for wheels, metal, and paint. The best way to apply Jetseal109 is to apply one coat and let it cure for 6-12hours. Buff the first applaction off and repeat one more time (so two coats in 12-24 hours). Make sure to do this to the outside of the wheel and the inside as well. Here is a link for Jetseal109:

http://www.detailedimage.com/Chemica...Seal-109-P184/

Later down the road you will want to invest into some metal polish for the lips. A great metal polish is P21s polishing soap, but this is only a good idea when it needs a quick pick-me-up. Think of it as a metal quick detailer. When the lips are really bad then I would step my game up to P21s finish restorer. Here is a link to both:

P21s polishing soap:

P21s finish restorer:

http://www.detailedimage.com/P21S-M1...-Restorer-P85/

Everything I have listed above will get you heading in the best direction as possible. I know it seems like a lot of information and products, but later on down the road when your wheels are still looking new you will be glad you recieved this information. If you plan to start detailing your own car and would also like more information on the best products, and the right way to use them, then feel free to PM me or just reply to this thread.

Thanks,
Jared

Yep, this is true.. I have done it both before and after, and you'll be saving yourself a lot of time and backaches by doing it before they are mounted.
