They are basically the same. Depends if you want them to say xdrive or weather tech. I personally got the weather tech ones because my buddy gets a hook up on them

They are the same, except for the superficial differences.

But neither is an all weather mat. They're all weather liners.. The one thing to note about them which is not clear in the pics (which came as a surprise to me when I ordered and received a set for a friend's X5), is the material is more 'plasticky' than 'rubbery'. It's not as thick as the rubber mats. It looks great in the pics and fits like a glove in the car, but the texture is that of a really cheap, flexible Rubbermaid plastic. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not evident until you see it in person.

FWIW, if you change your mind and want to go with an all weather mat instead of a liner, there are two kinds. One has the carpeted heel and other doesn't. The carpeted heel one is cheaper but not as heavy and protective. The one without the carpeted heel is more expensive but it's more sturdy, has deep grooves and does a better job of hold dirt and snow/water.

The carpeted rubber mat is in the pics (as you can see, it doesn't have the deep grooves around the edges and on the surface)..

I had those rubber ones in 2 previous cars and hated them. The tan and gray stain and look like crap after a month. My e92 came with them in black and I swapped them for the liners. The liners are not "cheap" by any means. They work much better for snow and ice.

I had them in black in the E46 and like them because they were durable and good for bad weather. On the E92, I found a good deal online and sprung for the carpeted heel one without seeing it, wish I had spent the extra $$ and gotten the other kind.

This is true, the liners are expensive (not not that much more really), and they're the best for rain, snow, ice and kids! In my case, I'm not a big fan of the liners because the car looks over-protected. I'm a careful user and don't really need the liners.

Thanks guys. It looks like with the rubber mats (without the carpeted heel) you can't get them in black to match my black interior. Can only get them in gray or beige which wouldn't match my black interior well. http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductDet...s&ProductId=42

Not able to find the rear of the same kind in black, must be a national shortage for that color or something.. But they do pop up in the classifieds periodically:

Or just get the Weathertech ones with deep grooves, they're as good as the OEM ones..

Just make sure they're compatible for RWD/AWD - for a few years/styles they had different mats for RWD and AWD.
