career as a test driver?

Anyone know how to get a job as a car test driver? or a position as one of those "ex/ retired racing drivers" sitting next to you on "driving day experience"...

Most of the instructors at Palmersport are young aspiring drivers. They are doing it to try to get noticed and get some laps in.

I don't think the pay is that good.

I spent a day with Colin Hoad of CATDT @ Millbrook and this guy's CV was incredible yet its been 5 years of hard work to get his business to where it is now. I think he said he has the second highest category of test driver licence going. The highest level required crazy things like ice driving at 100mph and you really had to be working for a major manufacturer to get that. I don't think anyone in the UK has it. (i could be wrong)

So in terms of getting into that career, it's a long road. Do you have any racing licences?
