weight of 328i

got bored this afternoon, went TA truck stop and got the baseline weight of my 328i

3305lb with 3/4 tank of gas, no driver.

roughly 340lb lighter then M3(base) or 200lb vs 335i(base) or 120lb then 330i(base)

yea, just base with sport pack, manual seat, no moon roof and base audio.

I added some audio stuff maybe about 15lb there, but PE probably shaved it off.

Bwahhhh?! O.O when I weighed my car on the scale, I was at ~3800 but then again I had a full tank, 2 12in subs and different wheels :/ (6mt mtech/msport) and of course my fat ass was on it too haha
Why the hell do we drive tanks -.- my buddy's 4dr e36 m has the same gross rating as our cars lol

It really is. You can read up all you want about how to please a woman, you can look at all the diagrams in the world, but just like the clitoris, you won't know what the hell an apex is before you actually find it.

I have the car similar to yours, - 2010 328i, base + sport package, no moon roof, MT, rear fold down seats. That's about it.

1/4 of a tank is around 15 liters ~ 15kg ~ 33lbs. So real curb weight is around
3305lb at scales, plus 33lbs missing quarter tank = 3338lbs, minus your audio things (15lbs) = 3323lbs, versus official number 3362lbs.

Was there any other things in the car at the scales?

P.S. In 2010 they removed lot's of things from the car, but didn't update the number in specs, so I thought it should be slightly lighter than that....

Also, C&D tested 328i three times. Prior to 2010 model year they were able to get 6.1 sec 0-60, but in 2010 it was 5.9 secs... So that might be partially due to weight savings.

all i have added is some amp plus a component speakers in the front,
no fold down seat either.

I think here are the differences between base 2010 and "pre-lci" :
no hood insulation
6 speakers, no amp vs 10 speakers with amp
no trunk bottom cloth tray(one underneth the trunk floor)
"semi" lightened flywheel 23lb vs 31lb (production after 8/2008))
no pre-wiring for alarm system

that 07 CD tested has more pkgs in it, as tested price was like 38k, 09 model down to 36k(base plus zsp)

i guess with only sport package and lighter flywheel on 09, it was able to out pace 07 by 0.2 sec to 60 and 1/4 mile. assuming enviromental factor are similar.

I didn't know about the flywheel...

Also gone 2010 vs 2009 (2009 is LCI)
- cargo nets
- drink cooler
- ashtray
- trunk key\lock

All in all, I hoped there would be more weight savings... Moonroof alone should weigh around 30lbs... So your (and mine) cars should be lighter than 3323lbs I hoped it would go somewhere in 325 area.

a Z4 battery 70ah (stock 90ah is 61lb ) will shave 15lb plus swapping out the RFT tire to 225 square with a slime kit will save you another 25lb. will put you under 3300lb

btw mine is a N51 equiped 328i, i think factory stated it added 30lb of emission stuff, but i guess still weight less then the official figure.

Oh... mine is not SULEV , so that's good news for me .

I already bought non run flats, but got space saver spare wheel plus jack, so no weight savings on this one

weight on tire supposely is unsprung weight, more effective then swapping the lighter rim since its on the outer radius. so if 20lb unsprung wieght could mean 50-60lb off the curb weight.

do you notice any differece? im about to swap out mine for all 4 225s, that 255 is too beefy for me.

New tires are in the garage, but original ones still have around 5k miles to go. So, can't report on this yet.

For my previous car I had a dedicated set of lightweight wheels for autocross, so I was swapping them back and forth. And I can tell you I felt the difference.
