AMT Taxes

i know this forum has a lot of knowledgeable and well-off posters so i'm hoping that you can help me understand AMT taxes. i've tried to read countless articles online, but i failed to find what i need to know so here goes.

1. exercising stock option will sure trigger the need to file AMT?
2. or is there threshold/limit on the value of the exercise to trigger the need to file AMT? for example, if i exercise stock option at a value of 20k, will i need to file AMT?

thanks for your guidance!
