BMS Intake Melted?
Has anyone heard of a BMS intake melting?
I bought one off of a member here, and noticed that the opening that attaches to the cone wasn't perfectly oval, but didn't think twice about it. After having tons of issues, I happened to notice a picture of it online, and realized that mine was deformed as hell. Instead of an oval, mine looked more like a banana, and wasn't even close to sealing properly. I put the stock intake back in, and bam, no more issues. Doesn't die at cold start anymore and boost is fine. |

I have the DCI on my car, running 19-20 psi boost in Las Vegas Desert weather.
No problems at all ... I also have never heard of the DCI melting on its own.

The DCI won't melt but their N55 intake uses a plastic intake pipe. If it's not properly braced and rests on any of the aluminum on the car, it could potentially melt.

It was pretty cheap as a downpipe + intake combo. I have to say though - the downpipe was flawless. |

Alright, so here's the update:
Mike was correct! I emailed Jon at BMS regarding my intake, and explained exactly what happened. He promptly responded, asking for some pictures. So, I sent some pictures over and awaited his response. That same night, he emailed me back, stating that they would immediately replace the intake at no charge. Today, I received two emails from Jason. The first contained the tracking number and the second, and explanation. I must say, I'm truly impressed that the engineer of the intake (Jason) felt the need to contact me and explain what likely happened. Needless to say, I give BMS an A-fucking-Plus (excuse my language). Everyone there is a dream to work with! Thanks guys! Edit: corrected a name =-] |
