Just picked up 4 x 5 litre jugs of Liquimoly Longtime Top Tech 5w-30 @ 29.95 each at A&A Discount Auto Parts in Hamilton on Woodward Ave. which is only 2 minutes off QE highway east of the Skyway bridge. The Mann filters were not in stock but they brought them from their warehouse next day.
A&A also have other Liquimoly on sale such as 4100 and 4200.

A&A price for the Mann filters were $10.03. Picked up at my convenience after their one day delivery from their main warehouse.

5w30 or 5w40 is safe for all operating condtions.

I switched to 5w40 recently and my car loves it. shell rotella t6 is very good stuff.

Doesn't seem like a good deal considering you can get Liqui Moly oil change done at BMWizard for $80 including the filter.

+1

It also shears quicker and therefore provides less protection after a few thousand miles. Liqui-moly holds up much better in the long run and resists to oil burning far better.

the LL BMW stuff is nonsense. there are oils out there with no LL certification that exponentially outlast and slow the oil burning of any typical shit choice out there like mobil or castrol.

shell rotella t6 (which I have used recently with excellent results) and motul 5w40 are both excellent alternative choices.

RMP recommends Liqui Moley, and they know the E90 platform as well as anyone. I use it in both my cars.

Great, I'm going to use LuquiMoly on my N20 now. Been using mostly Castrol on my N52 (0W-40 for this winter, but 5W-30 has been standard). Going to look at 5W-40 for the summer and 0W-40 for winter now for both cars.

Total, Oem bmw! Mobile 1, and Liqui Moly.

Now while having a catch can over the years and also taking it out, with reviews of crankcase pressure.

Here is what came to light.

All of the oils went low, as in I would need to top up about 500ml between a 5000km oil change except the Moly.

This is now my second oil Change on the Moly and the oil gauge meter has not moved since done. Keep in mind I run my car at 19 psi also.

Catch can is long gone gone and Liqui Moly is now my choice, try it, I did not think this was even possible since I always topped up oil between oil changes.

I can't remember, getting old, lol
I'd be fairly confident to say that one would be good.
Try it.

Next time I'm at the shop I will snag a photo of it.
