Track Night tomorrow

Headed to a Friday night test and tune.....first time at the track. Any advice on launch RPMs or pointers? I got full delete with DUDMD stage 2 tune....hoping to get into the 12's. I'll post up my times.

Well the night of fun at the track turned into a nightmare....got 2 runs in. First run completely smoked the tires ( 2.491 60 ft time )....got out of it....then back on to run a 13.8 at 109.2. Second run was better off the line ( 1.89 60 ft time ) but some where around the 1/8 to 1000 ft complete loss of power, although it run a 13.3 but mph dropped to 103.9, and when slowing down I could hear the knocking. Now I get a loud knock upon start-up, sounds like maybe a bent rod or spun bearing. Pretty sickening sound. Anyways.....anyone got a good source for parts? Prob start the tear down tomorrow. WOOHOO!!!!!

Im not running meth.....am i missing a relevant correlation? This morning it sounds MUCH better, only a small knock at a little higher RPM, and only audible inside the car.

Sounds like a failed injector.

That's a nice best case scenario. Do you have any codes for failing injectors?

Yea, it is.

As for an injector code, I didn’t have any. Just had a miss and metallic knock at certain RPM’s. Another member had the same issue as me and in both cases, it was a failed injector.

I’d find it hard to believe an interal engine component failed at Sooner’s power level, especially without spraying meth.

I think you have more experience dealing with failed M57’s though, so you may know better.

Not throwing shots, but I'm guessing you guys have BPC tunes that are known to block injector codes?

Dimitry's brother said the other day in Facebook that Dudmd isnt hidingthe injector codes.

I was running a BPC tune. The other guy was stock.

Guess time will tell. I hope it’s an easy, cheap repair for Sooner. Again, I find it kind of hard to believe his engine had an internal failure at that power level and without running meth.

I’ve also never heard of an internal engine knock getting better with time. The injector knock I experienced had audible changes. Sometimes very faint and other times louder.

I don't have any codes that I remember( well no SES light anyways )....is there an easyish test for injector issues? At first it sounded VERY bad, but like I said today its almost nonexistent......can only hear it on higher revs AFTER you let off. OBVIOUSLY I'm hoping for the best. I have the DUDMD tune so are you saying that IF it was an injector code it would show an error Andrew?

According to what was written, if it was an injector problem you would able to see a CEL code.

Maybe I need to bring it to you guys. The more I read and listen to various videos the more it seems like an injector issue. Is it possible to remove and CLEAN them or is that just wishful thinking? Is the hot shot stuff worth a crap to try? I'll go back and see if it throws any codes, in a little bit. Its at a buddy's house that has a nice shop.

Hope its an injector as well. Good luck with diagnosis.

Ok went over and ran some of the hot shot stuff through it....didn't really help much. Is excessive WHITE smoke a sign of injectors or a more serious problem? I took a video of it if I can get it posted.

Consider too, that the engine was full throttle when something went wrong. Be careful spending a bunch of money on wishful thinking. Do a proper compression test before throwing money at it.

If its a bent rod on spun bearing what is a compressipn test going to tell me? Thats not meant to be a snarky comment but rather a genuine question. Im kind of at a loss in how to proceed. I have access to the tools to take it out and tear it down to rebuild and have done several gassers, but id really like to have a clue of wbat could be wrong.

Around me, it costs $35 - $50 per injector to have them tested, depending on where you go. The place will need a bosch eps 200.
