Question Check engine light and code diagnosis help

So I have started having a problem where the check engine light randomly comes on and my car starts shaking like crazy, and definitely has reduced power similar to limp mode.
I do not get any messages in the iDrive, it is just the cluster "service engine soon" light that comes on.
Either shutting off the car for an extended time or clearing the codes is the way to get it to run normal again. Just powering off and restarting it does not make the problem go away.

It can happen on a heavy foot on an on ramp to the highway, or just sitting at idle.

It is starting to drive me crazy.
I just put new plugs in the car 300 miles ago and it did not help.
I have the Bavarian auto coil packs, they have about 30,000 miles on them.

I'm not sure if the I have bad coil packs or if this could be injector issues. I do have injector tick, but it has always been there.

I do have an aftermarket intercooler, chargepipe and BMS DCI.
I'm running the MHD stage 1+ tune.
When the car is not in check engine mode it pulls hard and is great.

I just need to figure this out and I couldn't find much in searching for my error codes. Thought I would see what others thought.
Here are the codes that keep coming back.
What is "Burning time too short"? seems weird that it would be 2 cylinders?

Motor Control:
Engine / Motor
Fuel pressure sensor, electric
Code: 0029F3
:Ignition cyl. 2 / Motorabstellzeit, plausibility / Ignition, Cyl. 2 / Ignition cylinder 2: Burning time too short
Code: 002E19
:Ignition cylinder 3: Burning time too short / Data / DFE Failure / Transmission Temperature Sensor of Manual transmission / Refrigerant pressure sensor / Ignition, Cyl. 3
Code: 002E1A
Misfire, cylinder 3: injection is switched off
Code: 0029CF

Thinking my next go would be to get new coil packs.
Opinions?
Car is an 09 LCI 335i xDrive N54 with 106,000 miles. I maintain it religiously.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Swap the coils out for other cylinders and see if the misfire follows.

Which cylinder is #1? the one towards the front of the engine bay or the one towards the back? I want to make sure I swap the right ones.

I swapped the coil pack that was at cylinder #3 to cylinder #1 and I swapped the coil pack from cylinder #2 to cylinder #5.

I couldn't even get the car to idle with out the "service engine soon" light coming immediately back on and shaking the car to death.

I re-scanned the car twice clearing codes inbetween and both times had the same results.

Motor Control:
Engine / Motor
:Ignition, Cyl. 1 / building up of fuel pressure EKP-forward stroke / ignition cyl 1 / Brake light switch / Ignition cylinder 1: Burning time too short
Code: 002E18
Misfire, cylinder 1: Injection is switched off
Code: 0029CD

So hopefully it is just the coil pack.
I will just order 6 new ones, and hope it fixes my issue.
I will post up with the results.

I checked while I was in there. 2 injectors are index 7 and 4 are index 9.

I agree, I'm hoping it is just the coil.

I'm a little disappointed, I have these and they didn't even make it 30,000 miles without a failure.

Went with Delphi coils this time. Should be here next week.

From high performance on those is probably just the color red. There is no telling when coil will go out. Might be 3 miles or 30.000 which is pretty good on 335i. However, when coil goes out is because is compensating too much for other engine components, like injectors or spark plugs. I'm at 93k and 3 coils are still factory.

I bought my car with 72,000 miles and I replaced the coils with those "performance" ones shortly after buying because I was planning on installing an MHD flash and I thought best to do the plugs and and coils before doing so. The previous coils were not giving me issues, but I had no idea of their age.

Hopefully I get a decent life out of the new ones.

I assume you still have the previous coils. Reuse them. As replacement for these.

I think I saved a couple of them, but I read you shouldn't mix Bosch and Delphi brands. You can use either but should have all 6 of the same band.
Wasn't that expensive, I was just glad it looks like it is not my injectors.

Mixed coils are a lot better then the car misfiring.

Realistically, there shouldn't be any real difference between the coils as long as the step up coil ratio is at the OEM spec.

I'd wager those index 9s are on their last legs too.

Have you pulled the plugs to see how there burning? Soot, wet, these are systoms of fuel issues. Do you have the original coils, cause it definitely looks like it's on the ignition side. I'd also pull a oil sample to check for dilution along with plugs. Burn time to short can mean the spark is cutting out before the cycle is complete, so there may be more fuel left over for the next cycle. Also try disconnecting mhd and see if anything changes.

UPDATE: So the new coils have fixed the problem (at least for now). I can't believe how smooth the car idles now
Hopefully I don't have any issues any time soon.
I still have this fear in the back of my head that the injectors are on their last leg. May be time to start saving for new ones.

Thanks for all the help and opinions!

I got a set of 8 used index 12s for under $200. That's a possibility for those on a budget. Definitely replace the injector seals and decouplers though, you'll need the precision raceworks injector seal tool.
