Currently at 0.7 bar. I could push it up by 0.1 with a 930 wastegate spring and boost controller but if I go to 1 bar i need to cool the charge air down with an intercooler first. No engine management to map on this car. There are digital ignition options but involved and costly. DITC wasn't introduced on the 924 turbo until 1981.

Haven't been as frequent a visitor as I used to as the 320d has been sidelined by my 924 Turbo. Its been dyno'd a few weeks ago at 158bhp at the wheels which ain't bad for a 30 year old. I have fitted a MOMO wheel. Removed a lot of the heavy under carpet insulation, rear seat and rear wiper.

Picked it up today from EMC Motorsport with new GAZ Gold coilovers and a brake refurb with new discs and Mintex race pads.

WOW!!

Lower and harder than I was expecting but only what you could expect from an outfit that prep race cars. I can adjust the damping off a little and lift the car if need be but it was set up as a road/track compromise. Its not as low nor firm as a race car but too far for many tastes. The brakes are now spot on with plenty of bite and feel. All in I am happy. Money spent is way more than many would deem appropriate on this age/value car but I can pick and choose how I spend my cash. Its not my daily drive so I am not going to suffer too much in the back dept.

It has been corner weighed, measured and aligned and drives round corners on rails. It is bang on 50/50 weight in all directions.

Here's some quick picks in the dry spell before getting home.

Your absence had been noted by the Management.

Fancy a run out on the 18th April?

Pistonheads SW are congregating at Cheddar Gorge, convoy from WSM Morrisons to Cheddar. 10-10.30am from memory at Morrisons. Hopefully the weather will be good, some exotic machinery turns out.

That sounds really interesting. I missed it last year due to commitments. Question is BMW or Porsche?

A few new bits added. Now getting very track ready ......

Cobra Suzukas. Schroth harnesses waiting to be fitted. Cage to be ordered shortly

Re covered the gearshift in black suede to match Momo wheel. Guages moved around so rev counter sits in the middle

Lost the rear seat and all the under carpet heavy insulation

Rear wiper and motor lost some kilos

Porsche script door handles added. New wheel nuts fitted (Porsche charge £7.50 each for the extremely light alloy nuts!)

New fibreglass bonnet ordered which will be over half the weight of the steel one. May swap the wings for f/glass as well

Nice - if you're not leaving it stock you may as well go the whole hog and create your very own 'new' 924 Carrera GT!

Love the pinstripe cloth & the rev counter.

What led me to buy a 924 Turbo was to convert to a 924 Carrera GT as I have loved these cars since 1980. Never actually made in white I just loved this and the rest is history. I plan to leave as narrow body for the short term and concentrate on getting the mechanicals spot on. Even though I have access to the wide body panels.

Cool - only white one was the proto by the look of it (or reps of course). All the sold ones were red, black or silver, with only 75 RHD. Is it me or does Guards red just look so so good on these?

http://www.924gt.com/index.html

What were the strips on the front/rear windows? Were these lightweight sliding jobs? No customer cars had this did they?

Go for it by the way.

PS I got my duck tail today for my 911. Funny how a cheap plastic body part circa 1973 can be such a source of excitement.

The 75 UK cars were Carrera GT. There were also some GTS and GTR cars for racing

Heres a repainted grey GTS with sliding side windows and fixed headlamps amongst other things

http://www.freisinger-motorsport.de/...r_sale/93.html

One of my favorite cars, a red GTS

Looks like those seats will keep you in place

Have you tracked it much yet? Does it need a short-shift or is it sport enough as it is?

No track action yet. Every time I put a few quid aside to pay for track time I end up spending it on more goodies. Will be on track over the the next month or so for sure.

Survived its first foray on track at Castle Coombe today. Was a buzz with a hint of worry when the tyres began to feel greasy and the tyre walls/crash barrier started to look too close for comfort. A few slides and four wheel drifts more by chance than design. A nice day out!

My dad had two of these back in the day - fairly sweet handling but not very quick. The 928 S4 he had was much quicker.

I do like the look of the 924 turbo but the 944 turbo kicks it's ar5e.

924 or 924 Turbo?

Is a 911 SC quick? My 924 Turbo has similar performance and handles better!

Watch this. A Swedish guy with a similar set up to mine taking 911's left, right and centre

Two 924 turbos. One blew a turbo, the other got replaced with the 928. 177bhp I seem to remember.

Steve, in pic. three I can't work out whether that's a look of concentration on your face or a 'mean' look.

Either way, seems you're enjoying yourself and the car looks good.
