Why so tight?

Well I decided to switch over to my snows today. Only problem was that I couldn't remove the bolts on my passenger side front wheel. The wheel lock bolt I was able to remove, but the other 4 bolts were on there very very tight. I tried everything and couldn't get them off. I might have partially stripped one of the bolts. Now I have to bring my car to the dealer to have them remove the 4 bolts and replace with new ones.

What would've caused this? The other 3 wheels I was able to remove. Should this be covered under warranty? I think those 4 bolts were overtighten. The wheel locks were already on the wheels when I got the car and I was able to remove the wheel lock on that wheel. So I doubt the bolts are seazed to the wheel.

Would the dealer be able to remove the stripped bolt without causing any damage to the car? Would they be able to remove it? This has never happen to me before. I always tighten with a torque wrench to the correct specs.

To make matters worse, I put some minor nicks on the wheel while attempting to remove the bolts any way I could. Note to self, put down the tools while angry and fraustrated.

One last thing, when I had to put the summers back on, I leaned one of the snows against the fence and it fell flat on it's face putting pretty large scratches and chips on each of the spokes. Anyone got a spare Sport Edition A7 for sale?

I've got a matching (scratches in paint) Sport Edition A7 for you Same thing happened to me. I now use a furniture blanket in case they fall.

Use a breaker bar and a good socket. I broke a socket AND extension bar this morning. Had to borrow wifes car to go to Sears and get a new socket. Went with Craftsman this time.

I'll remember to use a blanket next time. I did use a breaker bar with a socket from Craftsman. That didn't work. I believe they have Superman working at the factory tightening only the front passenger side wheel bolts.

It could be that they were over torqued and perhaps also just got stuck there over time (similar to how wheels get stuck on the hubs).

I thought that at first also. But than why was the wheel lock bolt on that wheel easily remove with normal effort. It seems like the factory must have over torqued.
