How many own "out of warranty" cars here?

I picked up a used 335D in great condition. Local one owner commuter car.

I opted out of the $3500 aftermarket warranty. I drive so much that I would hit the mileage limit in under 2 years.

I drive hard, and I'm expecting things to break. When they break, I'll be replacing them with stronger components that will handle the use and last longer. $3500 will go a fair way in parts.

I have had BMW's in the past... E30, E39, E38 - they were all tanks and I never had any significant issue with them.

Looking forward to tearing it up in my 335D!

As for extended warranties, they are effectively insurance policies. And the insurers are guaranteed to set them up so that they statistically cost each insured party more than that party will statistically get in return. Meaning you, as the buyer, are more often than not going to lose money.
