My farewell to the BMW 3-series
hello,
Having driven three bmw 3 series by the age of 21, ( 2000 323ci e46, 2007 328i e92, 2007 328i e92), i truly know the sheer beauty and performance of this model line. My lease on the 328i will be over in a year, and i definitely want to stay in the BMW family. My options are a 2010 528i or 2008/9 650i. Any opinions/suggestions? thanks

Take the 650i only if it will have the new 4.4l twin turbo engine found on X6 5.0i. I am sure this engine will transition to the other BMW models very soon.
528i ? How old are you ? |

I am 21 years old
I do want to move onto a bigger car only because feel I have been in a 3 series since the first day I began driving(e46) and now I'm in an e92.. i definitely love bmw's and wouldn't drive anything else. The 650, which may be coupe or convertible, will have to be a 2008 or 2009, for cost reasons. I drove a 550i loaner a while back, and it was a really amazing car, I do like the 528i, but I think its a little too mature for me @ this point in time. The 6 series has been a dream car of myne, I see it as the epitome of sex on four wheels... any thoughts on the convertible vs the coupe.?? thanks

M3 maybe? They all look good, but the E90 is probably the most mature looking. Guess it's still not a bigger car, but maybe going from E92 to E90 would be enough.

You're so young I can't see either! My suggestion would be a M3 or 335 if you want to be more low key. Or, as much as I love BMW's, an A5 or S5 would be a great car as well.
I think a dressed out 550i is a much better car out of your 2 choives but do you need that much space? 4 doors? I just personally don't like the 6's...they're expensive, just ok from some angles and awkward to downright ugly from others. Like all the worst of the Bangle legacy lives on! Even the V8's are not particularly fast either. Plus, around here at least, they're driven exclusively by well-to-do housewives. No guy with $70k+ to spend on a car buys one of those...none. You get to that level and there are too many choices that are alot more interesting. |

The E90 is already a big car. Anything bigger is an absolute boat.

Partly the reason why I'm so indecisive as to whether or not I want a 1-series or an E92. Go bigger with an E92 or return to a more traditional E30 sized 1-series.

every generation they get bigger, the 1's are basically a e36 3 series sized car, the current 3 series 4 doors are almost the size of a e39 5 series

Time to update your sig it show's your 328i on order
At 21 I dont' know why you would want such a big car, do you carry alot of people around? I got the smallest car I could that was still pratical for me...as everyone else said M3 out of the question or if your a modder I'd go with the 135i (bias here!). Or A5/S5? I'm always not liked big cars, probablly because I hate SUV drivers...you might want to buy a smaller car and keep the rest to buy a place, its a great time in the states to buy a house..thats what I was doing at 22 (only 27 now), live in a great house now which doesn't depciate....what do I know maybe you are independtly weathly! |

Meh, I'm not a huge fan of the 5/6 series unless they are M cars... but that's just me.
Like others have said, why not opt for the E92 M3? I think it's big enough for most young people. Having a big car isn't always the best idea, as you get stuck lugging people around. |
