so they are really giving out more HP then the company told us ?? thats weird. doesn't sound bad though for a 20K car. i wonder what the #'s will be for the other engine thats suppose to give 306HP.

not bad at all. I wonder what the stock boost is and much boost the stock turbos can take.

This engine will respond extremely well to modification, bolt ons or big turbo. I'd like to predict 30+ whp from a boost controller, TBE, intake and a flash easily.

There is no question that I would add 30-50whp which would ultimately turn an already fun car into an extremely fun, grin every time you gas it car at the expense of a warranty on something that MIGHT but most likely will not break in 60,000 miles.

Hyundai clearly wants people to mod this car. Recently heard of a stripped down version with less standard equipment specifically for this purpose.

Just like Mitsubishi wants their Evo MR to be auto crossed... They voided peoples warranties for participating in those events...

They will not encourage modding under warranty...That is just plain stupid to think that

I don't know. Hyundai is trying to build brand equity and are doing a great job so far. They may "go easy" on tuning in order to build a presence as being a good manufacturer and gain some tuner friendly business.

Additionally, if you think thats stupid then what do you think of their ridiculous move of doing Hyundai assurance plus. Its completely unparalleled and its ingenious. I think Hyundai is really on the ball here and Honda and Toyota need to watch their backs if they keep making progress like this.

I think every auto maker needs to watch out.... It's just crazy that Hyundai is putting out products that now actually compete properly in all aspects with all these established brands.

Not really my kind of car but I read that getting Evo like numbers out of the engine is just a flash and some minor mods away. Could be an insane bargain if that's true

I was thinking the same. The Genesis sedan has an optional 4.6L V8 with 375HP. What's to stop someone from plopping that into the coupe?

I think they're trying to keep the weight in the front down. I'd imagine the V-8 would require significantly more support and compensation in the front end. But, I'm sure someone will do it.

Exactly. Plus what would be the point when you could make that much power with the 4 banger?

The cost involved in developing a turbo for that motor would be ridiculous. Plus you'd be adding to the extra weight of the V8. Not only that.... Even if you can fit a V8 in there, I doubt there would be room for a very efficient turbo setup. Supercharger, maybe. Turbo, no thank you.

Not only that, but there are already plenty of kits on the market that make the 4-banger mad fast. I'm talking MADD FAST, SONN! Anyway, the R&D has been done and is pretty much covered. The bitch would be swapping internals and figuring out what other driveline components need replacing.

putting ONLY boost controller made that car 206whp/247wtq. There's a literally a crush section along the already restrictive exhaust to clear the cross member.
