M3 alloys on E92 335i SE..??
Is this not the done thing, I love M3 alloys, but you don't see many people putting them on non M cars, or maybe i'm missing something??
Lots of posts about CSL's, MV3's or MV4's. Are M3 wheels on non M cars frowned upon, would I have "clownage" stamped to my forehead? (i obviously wouldn't add M badges as a result!) Ta |

The OEM M3 wheels won't fit the non M's, so unless you go aftermarket you'll have problems.

I would never put the 19s on, but love the 18's on as they are just a nice wheel.
I had them on my silver touring, they won't fit lci cars or any coupe though. |

It has been done:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...8&highlight=m3 I wouldn't class this as clownage, as I don't think you're trying to make the car seems something it's not, just improving the aesthetics (a bit like the M3 bootlip on a non-M3). May be worth contacting the OP to see how he's getting on. The other thing to consider is that second hand genuine OEM 18'' e9x wheels are very hard to come by, and therefore tend to be very expensive. Maybe MV3's powder coated in the M3 18'' colour may be an option (both for appearance and offsets) Edit: noticed that you didn't stipulate a size and had 18's in my head - I've never come across OEM M3 19's on a non-M car

I considered M3 reps as part of the Group Buy with BMAutosport (MarK)
Offsets from where front et 38 and rear et35 which would have been fine, I went with the CSL's in the end due to the 313m which i currently have, being machine cut as are the M3's so the CSLS's where a different wheel and finish. In my opinion they are worth considering, all good on the fitment and price - link as follows, http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/detail.php?siteid=1259 End of the day, your car, your decision, Personally i think they are a nice wheel, A very good point made by ed335d with regards to the M3 lip spoiler !!

Problem with them on the coupe is they look too big, then even more so with the undersized tyes on to stop them rubbing the arches.
This is them on my touring... That is still right at the limit I reckon. |

Also worth noting which M3 wheels - i.e. e46 or e9x and 18's or 19's

I got those mate and they are really great and the M3 offsets make them stick out a bit and look aggresive I listened to GIzze on the right tyre profile and non run flats and its been great. If I am not mistaken they are also lighter than some of the smaller rims too. they do catch peoples attention.

It's your car, do whatever floats your boat.
However, I would say this. BMW spend a lot of money on designing their cars and that includes the wheels. Excluding certain styles (CSLs come to mind plus a handful of others), I don't think putting anything other than OE wheels ever does anything for the looks of a car. The designers at BMW know what they are doing. For example, why do you think 225m style wheels are not offered on the E90/1 (at least I don't think they are)?? It's because (to my eye) they look unbalanced on those models, I saw a set on an E91 the other day and it just didn't look "right". Put M wheels on a non-M and I think the result is the same. M cars are subtly different, the arches are wider, the styling is sufficiently different to allow the differently styled wheels to look ok. Put them on a stanard (non-M) car and they just don't look right... It's difficult to explain. I understand that people like certain wheels but you have to look at the end result and how they look once on the car. It doesn't always work. Just my 2p. |

Cheers for your opinions. What made me think was seeing used sets advertised as OEM on ebay, 19" though. Probably would never happen anyway, still need to get my M lip spoiler I promised myself a few weeks back, I am a wishful thinking modder!!

Hence the X6, X1, 5GT
There are lots of aftermarket wheels which suit BMWs and look just as good as OEM

Guess I'm a clown in some peoples eyes but ive got 19" M3's on my E90 I love the look of the wheel and think they look great fitted, I'm not trying to be a M3 and don't think anyone could confuse my car with an M3 so I guess you do whatever floats your boat, it's my car I think it looks great that's all that matters to me
