6FL and IPOD question..
I have a 4g nano ipod, one of the first ones that came out not the new one. I went and plugged it in to the Y-cable and nothing happened. I selected the IPOD from the menu but none of the buttons work on the car and none of the songs come up. Am i doing something wrong or am i not doing something that i should be doing before plugging it in??

If it is 4gb, then I am guessing you mean the 2nd generation, not the first. The current one is the 3rd generation. Can you describe how you are plugging it in? If the iPod thinks it's attached correctly, the nano screen should indicate it is attached to your car.

I plug it in the way it fits and then as soon as i plug it in the ipod just says "OK to disconnect" and doesnt change from that. When i hit buttons on the ipod nothing happens. And yes it is the second generation.

It should work; there are no special steps you have to take first. You should just plug the cable into the bottom of the ipod, plug the other end into the usb port and aux port and off you go. Sounds like your ipod or your 335 might have a problem.

It may be the ipod, it is pretty beat up. I don't think it is the car just cause it registers when I plug it in on the radio so I would think its not that.

I have no idea what is causing it, but since you say your friend's ipod works in your car, I have a suggestion.
Try completely restoring and updating your nano from scratch. Follow the instructions for "Restore Option 4" on the Apple Support site: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/ I realize your nano works with your friend's car already, but maybe the BMW interface is more finicky. |
