Cool Active Autowerke 3'' Downpipes Review!

Hey guys! I got my Active Autowerke downpipes installed yesterday. Initial impressions: holy sh*t!!!!! what happened to my traction??!?! i can actually hear my turbos!! wait is this my car?? IT IS MY CAR!! WOW MY CAR IS FAST!!
If you don't already know, Active Autowerke is a well known and trusted brand that has been specializing in BMWs for many years.
Anyways fitment wise there were no issues at all. The guy that installed it for me has installed many downpipes for this car and said they rank in the same category as the other high-end brands on this forum fitment wise. Looks wise these things are truly a sight to see. The welds are very clean and the pipes themselves are very shiny. If anyone is doubtful of getting the Active Autowerke downpipes don't be! I highly recommend them and have absolutely no regrets of my decision.

If anyone wants to get their downpipes installed hit up e90post member Jachien. He only charges $100 to install them and lives in Cerritos. I have no regrets of going to him. He's a cool guy and really knows his stuff.

Awesome, I am glad you like them. Catless downpipes make a HUGE difference. Should have done the install yourself though.

+ 1. Great downpipes.

Word of advice though: don't accidentally break the clamp when taking off the stockers... it's a pita to be stuck without a car until the dealership opens and you can buy a new one... for $44

thanks man I know I've been holding off on buying them and I really regret that. Honestly, I just really couldn't believe that a pair of pipes would really make a difference until I saw for myself.

Just put your stock downpipes back on for smog or warranty work.

go for it it's truly worth it.
here is all the information off of active autowerke's website.

Quote:
A turbo impeller wheel speed is mostly limited by the exhaust back pressure within the system. If one could eliminate some or most of this exhaust back pressure, the turbo will spool that much faster and effortlessly resulting in quicker engine revs and increase HP. The Active Autowerke Signature down pipe is designed with the intent to maximize in power. The down pipes are created with the least amount of restrictions possible by utilizing a full 3" piping throughout with the least amount of bends possible, that is impressive when compared to the factory diameter of 2.50". What you will experience is a faster, more responsive engine because the turbo impeller now has the ability to spool that much faster. The end result is more power. For added durability, factory like support braces are also implemented to alleviate stresses upon the turbos. Made from 304 stainless throughout ensures a robust and durable exhaust that will provide trouble free performance with the longevity to match. All flanges are 304 stainless with the 0.060" wall thickness (~1.5 m.m.)

Key Features:

-Designed with less restrictive curves and more straight flows
-Full 3.00" diameter piping throughout allows for maximum power output
-Quicker turbo spool
-Durable construction from 304 stainless with 1.50mm wall thickness
-Precise fit installation
-Full down pipe exhaust support braces relieves load bearing stress
-Installation instructions included

Yea, its crazy that just changing downpipes can add so much power. The sound doesnt hurt either. Post some sound clips if you can.

Yup, top 3 in my books as well. I would recommend to go with the Active Autowerke especially since there is a group buy going on from mike@n54tuning for $544 shipped.

You can get the standalone BMS DP Fix. Plugs into the ECU area. Works with and without a tune.
