Help me pick a system for my 2010 e90

Hi,

I have a 2010 e90 with the base audio system..

I would like to upgrade everything, door speakers, add tweeters (with oem covers), even if necessary add a center speaker, and (trunk) sub(s).

I would like a sub in the trunk, however if the underseat subs can be replaced with something decent then this may not be necessary..

Essentially I like my sound system to sound good and be loud.. I like the bass to be felt down the street per se.

I would like to upgrade the speakers, and perhaps add an amp or two..

Please suggest what I should purchase for the speakers, subs, and amps?

From what I have been reading it seems that 2010 does not have an amp in the trunk so wiring is directly from the head unit? I plan to install this myself, I have some experience installing car audio.. just never on a bmw.

I have spent the past 3 hours reading in this sub-forum but I would really appreciate it if technic or vp-elec could simply give me a list of things to buy

My budget is around $1000.

Thank you very much

For $1000:

- 2 sets of DLS PS 4A: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...DLS-PS-4A.html
- SWS-8 http://cgi.ebay.com/2X-EARTHQUAKE-SO...item230acb8ed3
- XD600/6: http://cgi.ebay.com/JL-AUDIO-XD600-6...item20b5e89114

You will need to recode your OEM HU to HiFi outputs for this to be effective, if not then you could need to add a Cleansweep: http://cgi.ebay.com/JL-AUDIO-CLEANSW...item5ade1fd3cd

A Cleansweep will blow your budget and still you will need to get the OEM tweeter pods and a Stereo harness.

You could streamline this setup by just getting one set of DLS, the SWS-8 a XD400/4 and a Cleansweep instead. The rear speakers will be driven by the OEM HU. That should keep your budget barely under $1000 with all audio equipment needed -no labor, amp power cable kit or RCA included.

Ummm... Just an FYI... I sell the 2-ohm SWS-8 WITH BMW rings for less than that ebay price. I sell the amp for very close to that price when you include their $19 shipping charge. The CleanSweep is also very close if you need one. And I am a proud reseller of some really cool BMW integration harnesses

I used to use those DLS and I now use the Rainbows. They are a little more.

So you can buy from unauthorized ebay dealers... or...

Hi VP Electricity - I am in a similar position to Ice2 - Not trying to hijack your thread Ice.

Essentially, I am looking to see what I can put into my BMW 06 E90 with standard stereo. VP Considering your prices are very competitive I would love to have a chat with you about what I will work for the car and suit my needs? I cant PM at the moment because I don't have enough Posts, so if you could shoot me a PM would be great. Cheers!

Thank you very much for the response!! I really appreciate it!!

Would the clean sweep be better or recoding the HU? The recoding has to be done at the dealership right? The dealership here in Egypt is kind've ignorant so I think I might have to go with the cleansweep.

Two final questions: Where will I get the audio source from? behind the headunit? Where is the harness for this?

and, will the sws-8 subs provide the loud bass that can be heard down the street that I am looking for?

I could go slightly over budget if a sub in a box in the trunk would be better, say $1500.

Thank you very much!

With the cleansweep, the master volume becomes controlled through the cleansweep remote not that headunit/steering wheel ?

edit: Ok so I read in a thread that the volume control remains through the headunit.

What about bass/treble settings?

VP -> feel free to PM a package that you think would be suitable.. thanks

I was thinking: Just getting front components, clean sweep, and a trunk sub..

Would it possible to power a 12idq.v3 with the four other channels on the xd600/6 ? I.e. 2 to the front components and 4 to the sub?

How about the Kicker 10ZX700.5 ?

This is what I have come up with ->

IDQ12V3 $279
rainbow SLC210.25 NG $279
jl clean sweep $200
Kicker 10ZX700.5 $278
$1,036

(yes I still need a box and other misc things, like the harness.)

I would be able to tune the bass/treble from the head unit.. correct?

Thoughts?

Recoding is better, definitely, since you get 4 channels of flat output and can then spend money on better gear
