AFe stg2 intake

Just wanted to share my little addition to my girls car, its a 6 speed 328 m-package. Have a couple of mods ini mind and i'll be using this thread to show them. First off were the Afe air scoops along with the AFe stg 2 magnum cold air. Fitment was great and well i wont say the car feels faster but the throttle response definitely improve and the engine sound from 3k and up is something worth hearing compared to stock. Next up is an AA custom tune with a dyno to show what these little cars could do. A drop is definitely on the plans, just not sure whether to use some sport springs or a full matched coilover setup. Keep in mind this is my girls car, cant bug her too much since i already convinced her to get a 6 speed and learn to drive it lol

Carbon splitters for M-tech bumper.

Looks good! The AFE intake is very popular. I'm my experience if you have the means I always recommend a full coilover system as the proper ones drive a lot better on the street, and wont beat you up a much as your typical lower springs, so to speak.

Thanks, you're right I know coilovers would work a lot better since they're a match setup. Just didn't want anything too aggressive for the mrs. There aren't many upgrades for this car, without getting in too deep maybe a performance axle back muffler, the custom tune should extract the most out of it.

Garage List
Keep an eye on that CF cover; I saw somewhere that they are cracking.

Looks good.

Could be, it's actually just plastic with a carbon finish and if tighten too hard with all the screws it comes with there's a high probability of cracking it. Thanks for the tip though

The aFe stage 2 Si systme looks great and I'm sure that there is a significant difference in throttle response and overall sound inside the cabin as well. Paring up an aftermarket spring with more aggressive spring rates will definitely cause your OEM non-sport or sport shocks to wear out over time. This is due to the fact that OEM shocks are simply not meant to handle the more aggressive spring rates. Think of it this way, you're putting a shorter spring with a longer shock body. The shorter springs will cause the shocks to compress to its maximum setting every time you hit a bump due to the longer travel distance. What this can cause is what's known as bump steer and jarring of the ride. This is what for the most part affects ride quality. Going with a coilover system will be more beneficial!

how do you like the setup. I know everyone was saying that the original afe with the heat shield actually loses hp. do you notice any difference in feel or have you had it dyno'd?

Also, is there any change in the sound?

Thanks

I haven't dynoed and i wont tell you that the power is awesome but throttle response did increase noticeably, the engine tone in the cabin is stronger, sounds like the engine of a true sports car above 3k. I know hardly any intake setup up would yield good results but if any i think this sealed intake with intake scoops and the side ports for air flow, along with the 6" cone filter should definitely be a worth while modification. I'm going to do an ecu tune and dyno shortly.

If you dont mind me asking where did you get the intake and how much?

Ive seen it for around $529 which i think is a little steep.

Bryan or Mike at Jlevis could do 480 shipped. There was a member here that said he knew a vendor that would do 450, but i never followed that. You have to chat with the guys at Jlevis, since they don't have the product listed, back when i placed the order. There's a chat option to the right of the page and tells you when they're on or off.

Can anyone verify the gains for this intake. I know there are a number of intakes for our cars that actually hurt hp/tq.

This is more of a sealed design that ppl seem to like. anyone have any luck with this?
