CHP finally got me.... :(

Driving to work this morning I was pulled over by the CHP. He was ready to cite me for: Speeding, tinted driver and passenger windows, no front license plate, tinted rear license plate cover, tinted tail-lights (depo blacklines). I ended up just getting two fix-it tickets for my tint and front license plate.

Speeding- He didn't have me gunned so I don't think he could really give me a ticket for this and it hold. He thought I was going 70-75 or 80 when getting around cars at one point (he said he was going 80 to catch up to me at one point), in a 65mph area. Thanks to my clean record he said he wouldn't bother with that.

Tinted driver and passenger windows- I lose, fix-it ticket...and I just had it put on 2-3 weeks ago

No Front license plate- I lose again, going to look for a bracket so I won't have to bolt to bumper.

Tinted License plate cover- I win. It's hardly tinted, mainly there for protection of plate.

Tinted Tail-lights- I win. As I said I have depo blacklines. Was shocked to hear him say that I was going to get cited. He had me press my brakes so he could see how bright the lights were. He said they were very bright even with the sun in his eyes. "I don't know if you have led's for bulbs but they are very bright!" I obviously don't have led's...so this was reassuring.

Overall the officer was super cool about it saying I had a nice car and he does stuff to his truck too, etc. I really really really don't want to pull my tint and think I might just pay the fine and keep it (I know I can get re-cited).

Questions- Fix it tickets don't on your record right? Even if you don't fix it?

well thank god you did not get a speeding ticket that would have been a bytch.. but for your question, fix it tickets do not go on the record.. you do not have to get them fix and just pay the fine on the ticket.. if you get them fix i think its like 25 dollars per citation..

Just use your original license plate bracket and hold it on with some double sided tape for the inspection.

fix it ticket vs speeding ticket = lesser of two evils. Overall come up I'd say.

Trust me, I know I caught a break. I wasn't speeding fast at all but technically was over 65mph so I could have been cited. While driving away I had a huge smile on my face thinking how lucky I was. Props to the super cool CHP officer!

Fix-it tickets won't go on your driving record, but do go on your overall record. If you get the same ticket a second time, penalty will cost more. I think it becomes a misdemeanor the third time. Don't quote me, but it does become a misdemeanor at some point in time.
