N55 PPK1 vs Cobb Sport
I tried Cobb Sport map and was not impressed. Due to lack of 92 fuel I don't want to run the aggressive map.
Thinking about going the BMW PPK1 route since it retains the warranty. Will the PPK1 be equally underwhelming? More importantly, if I uninstall the Cobb and go to a dealer to get PPK1, will they discover that the Flash has been messed with and give me trouble? Thanks in advance for your advise. |

ppk is comparable to COBB sport but I found the torque to be better on ppk...
I live in cali and we dont have 93 oct... but we do have 100+ I mix 5 gal of 100 unleaded and 10 gal of 91 that makes 94 oct... running cobb aggressive...waiting for stage 2+ agressive that will support FMIC and DP... I started with ppk, went to jb4 s2...now cobb because their AP is awesome... but their maps need work... if you want power go jb4 s2 or dinan s3 when it comes out |

PPk puts down more than the 20hp advertised, some say its 20-30 whp gains, cobb aggressive gets 31 to the wheels

I have both the PPk and the cobb - If you have access to good gas - and eventually want to run downpipe and/or FMIC, then I think the Cobb is worth it. I also did a blend to get in the 95 octane range and the Cobb put down the power. the aggressive map is a little rough on the stnd 92 octane we have here - the PPK runs nicely on the 92 - as I have said before the PPk is a noticeable improvement, but it does not transform the car. If you don't have access to great gas and plans to do other mods - I would just go with the PPK

I have had PPK for over a year now and recently added Cobb about 6 mths ago.. I have also installed FMIC . I think as Cobb is in Beta the mapping will improve and the best way to go to achieve the best results would be a Protune. Purely for day to day drive ability I have reverted back to PPK ... I feel it has enough grunt and as the power/torque isn't over powering it tends to grip and sprint off the line better with PPK . As maps improve and finals are done I will go back to Cobb. I would love to Protune although there are none in Melbourne Australia..

Yes, your PPK tune will be saved as the base map. Should you ever use the Access Port to revert to "stock", it will be the PPK that is restored.

@Tricki: You can have a E-Tune from them! You just need to log for them and they will set up a map for you that you can download on your ap!

I did the PPK first, Cobb was not yet available. Ran the PPK for about a year then got one of the first n55 Cobb tunes. It's a great tune, if you have the gas to take advantage of it. But I really loved the PPK too. Can't go wrong either way PPK does have the no worry advantage if you are concerned about warranty or are on a lease.

I still have 2yrs left on my warranty as well and had PPK, I jumped to COBB and love it! I'm on stage 1 aggressive without and mods and can't wait until I Mod and load up stage 2! Do what mellow says and mix the gas but don't waste your money on PPK like I did, not worth IMHO...
