Is this really safe?
Some tire shops told me I had to replace both the front (or rear) tires if one of them was a flat. Not sure if that's true. But I had my a flat tire replaced at the BMW store last week. Now the 2 front tires treat are 5/32 and 10/32. The service advisor said it would be OK. Who should I trust?
I did not have to pay because it was covered by their tire insurance policy. Would that be why they did not want to replace both? My major concern is the safty. |

You will be fine. Especially since you don't even have AWD. I had to replace a front due to a bubble and the rest are 6/32 and the new one is 10/32. My car is AWD and it is fine.
There are some AWD cars that this will cause a problem as the difference in circumference is beyond the tolerated difference in rotation for traction by the computer. If this is the case, just order one from the TireRack and have it shaved. Cheers, |
