Will my car fail it's MOT?
Last service (about 2 months ago) at BMW they told me my brake discs were slightly under tolerance (about 1mm) and that my brake pads were close to finished, but still over the minimum. They advised to wait until the brake pad wear sensors came on then change them all (discs and pads).
Fast forward 2 months and still no sensors on.. But I have my MOT this weekend. Will it fail due to the discs being under this tolerance? |

BMW advised me one of my tyres were below their tolerance as part of a 'free' check up after my car had software update. Their tolerance (for tyres anyway) was way above the minimum tread needed legally so im thinking they are slightly exaggerating the tolerances on your disks too. Although i wouldn't take my word for it, worth double checking.

The MOT check for disks doesnt check thickness. Its a general check of condition to ensure they're not structurally weakened.
You might get an advisory about their condition if they're badly corroded etc but thats about it. |

They may give you an advisory if your engine cover is on if you take it to BMW but don't sweat that either... it only means that it was on and they did not remove it. You won't fail if the cover is on.
