I think for light color cars (silver, white, grey, etc..) matte black would look much nicer. For darker color cars (dark blue and black, piano is better).
I have a black on black E92 and went with matte. I wish I would have went with piano... but matte isn't that bad (definitely looks much better on lighter cars). |

I have matte black and it looks cheap in the sunlight.
I'm going to get the M3 black chrome grilles at some point. Definitely get the gloss black or the black chrome. Edit. Since you have a 2012 get the gloss black. (Only black chrome for pre lci e92's and all M3's, don't think you can get black chrome with the lci) |

I went with the glossy black on my Space Gray e92. Just put them on my new Mtech front a couple days ago (thanks LTMW), definitely love the way it ties in with the glossy window trim. TBH, if you still have the gray lower grilles, then I'd be sure to paint them or else it may look a little weird...my $.02.

The package was actually sitting in front of my doorstep an hour before I posted above ^^^. I didn't even realize! I've done a power steering flush on the RDX today, so I'll install later this week.

I got these as well. I absolutely love them on my jet black 335 and am so happy I didn't go with the matte. I think that's specific to the color of my car I love the way matte looks with the grey though.

Still haven't installed these yet - too lazy and work in the way.
I think I'm going to use the Matte Black trim with the OEM chrome inserts. Mix n match and see how that goes...some time soon...
