swapping door speakers and amp

Sooo if i want to put in new front door speakers on my 2008 335i w/ logic 7;

Do i need to change the head unit?

the speakers i wanna put are these focals 165krx2:
http://www.focal.com/en/car-audio-so...s/165-krx2.php

they are 100 wat rms tho - i think i heard stock door speaker amp is 4 x 40 ?

how does it work if i wanna change the front door speakers only? i get 2x 100 amp, is there a way to wire it so that it powers these 2 speakers and the rest stay on the stock amp ?

thanks

You can change the speakers but they will still be controlled by the factory amp and its crossover points. Will it sound better, yes but marginal Vs changing out the amp and speakers.

It is using the outputs, this will introduce a few things to the system that will have to be accounted for.

1) is delay, without anything extra you cant accomidate the time delay becuase of the extra amp
2) you will introduce noise, in the aspect that you are running amp-converter-amp-crossover-speaker. Just too many things in the system that will degrade quality.
3) you will still have to deal with the crossover frequencies that the BMW amp is output. You can trim them but not excede them.

Again my opinon, bad idea. Just better speakers will help some, with clarity and if you get a higher sensatitivy speaker with volume. But overall you need an overhaul.

Mobridge DA2 is the new answer for L7

Its a preamp that understands the BMW Head Unit and reatains
the HU controls but you do have to replace all the amp channels with and amps and maybe speakers.
