2. Just pointing it out because a lot of people change their halogens to LEDs to change the color of the bulbs to a more "cleaner" look |

I don't know whether the brightness is making me or all the LUX V3 units.

OK, just to get this out there, I want to make sure everyone knows this:
The E90 LCI, and the E92 pre-LCI use 194 type bulbs as reverse lights; meaning that you can use the 9 LED Canbus bulb from AutoLumination, or the 13 LED Canbus bulb from ebay (looks to be made by the same supplier). Proof that the e92 pre-LCI uses 194 type bulbs: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533042 So, moral of the story: the Sylvania bulb guide is just that...a guide. But you should always check your vehicle before replacing bulbs. Just a heads up to the few e92 pre lci people i recommended a ba9s bulb to...don't flame me. |

We have lights just like the ones you have. They honestly arent bright enough to be worth while they just look cool. If looks is what your after that is justifiably ok.
We are looking towards a solution that is actually offering brighter output and the cool factor If its any consolation my goal for the replacement reverse lights was the find a truely bright solution cause i cant see when backing up cause of my tinted windows so that was the whole incentive. It's soldered onto the base. Not sure if you can physically take the bulb out, but something is soldered onto the main platform

Huh, now that is strange. I wonder why BMW thought that was a good idea?? Well...perhaps LUX/HPB can construct a base similar to that, but that would accept a standard 194 bulb?? I mean, all it is is a piece of metal with some specially placed contacts right??

Yeah, you see that metal layer on top of the plastic base? It's got the bulb soldered on the bottom (picture 2). I personally did all I could to pull it out until I realized I was bending the contacts where the base of the bulb was. I'm pretty sure if you unsoldered the two points, you could take it out or something--i don't know. I didn't look that far into it.
I'm assuming why BMW did this was because cost was lower and just as efficient. From my experience, the OEM reverse bulbs from the pre-LCI taillights appears less bright than the LCI taillights. |

So the 13 led bulb I got was a ba9s base socket with canbus for my e92 prelci. Since I got it is white, should it not be used as a rear fog? Should I find a separate red led bulb for the rear fogs and use this one i purchased as the reverse lights?? Quote:
Ah sorry missed this. I have 20% tints and I would love the ability to turn on and off the potentially super bright rear fogs when I need to. It's always nice to have that option! |

Hate to but...I'm about to bite the bullet on some red 1156 CANBUS leds (44 LED towers) that I can use to replace the brake bulbs in my e90 LCI tail lights
WHY you might ask?? Answer: good question, mostly, because I can, I think it will be brighter, and with LEDs, they come on quicker, and in tests at highway speeds, it can give the person behind you a 25 foot decrease in stopping distance over halogens. That's the difference between a rear end...and not at all. |
