Ever feel like your car has days where its faster than usual?
Am I the only one who feels like their car is randomly fast some days, and sluggish others?
More recently I've noticed driving like an asshole, I can get more days where it drives very nice. When I'm being a conservative granny, car feels slow as shit and I feel like trading her in. I know all too well about the transmission "learning" your driving habits, and correspondingly adjusting line pressure etc. etc. But I'm not referring to that, more so, I mean to ask about how ones engine feels going through the gears. I feel a difference, and I'm wondering what the hell is going on. Only mods are charcoal delete, k&n filter, and scoops. I'm wondering if a tune would make it always feel great. Its really tempting me. |

Yeah I'm thinking part of it is that temperatures have dropped a lot, but would that make a big difference on an N/A car?
There are sometimes where I try to get on it, and it doesn't really move, but other times, it puts me back in my seat lol. I should mention, I've noticed my gas mileage drop a good amount when I notice the "good days". Roughly 3-4 mpg's drop actually. |

Yes OP. Mine feels different every time I get in it. I always feel like the DME is way too sensitive or way too involved and the car has different levels of power all in the same commute. Very odd and annoying.

My e90 has been consistent so no complaints. I have a Forge FMIC, Injen DCI, AR DPs, and GIACs Stage II. A tune should help keep that smile on your face . but you may need to upgrade your FMIC and DPs.

Most noticable down here when its cold and dry. smooth idle and peppiness. When its hot and humid my car is idling at 850rpm!

Interesting observation. I totally felt like this with my 1989 E30 325iS. It seemed to have its "moods." The current E93 not so much. It's pretty much the same daily.

thats what im thinking.
really wish I had an air/fuel gauge setup to see how its running. Part of me doesn't mind spending a little more coin on gas to enjoy my car that much more on a daily basis, but when its not consistent, I have to ask. and haha yes, all cars are faster when freshly cleaned |

Fuel type, brand.
Temps play a big role in it, as mentioned with stock FMIC. Generally your mood, if your tired, and you punch it, itll wake you up lol! |

Dude if you threw a JB4 on there it would be night and day difference.
I had to take my JB4 off a couple weeks ago and it felt SOO slow. Once I popped it back in I was back to LIGHTSPEED.

Fuel, temp, air density, heatsoak all make a difference.

Oh man, getting lucky and finding a station that doesn't put ethanol in the 93 is like Christmas morning. Not only is the car more responsive, but on your next fill up you realize you got 30mpg instead of 24mpg.

Yes!!! Haha I've been thinking this lately. Some days the car feels a little sluggish (not slow, just sort of "taking its time"). Other days the car feels like there's a bomb under the hood. Honestly I think it comes down to it being all in our heads and what kind of shoes we're wearing. For example driving the car with sneakers will feel slower than driving it with work boots. Extra weight of the boots tend to help push the gas a bit more.

I have always felt that cars run better when they are clean.
