Really awesome current phones!
Hi chaps and chappeses,
I currently have an iPhone 4 and am due an upgrade. TBH, I don't love it and I think something like the Galaxy S3 or a Windows phone would be better. Regardless of cost (assume a standard 18 month deal sort of thing) what would you guys recommend? I use Twitter, Browser and a few iOS apps now, but there were plenty of apps I liked on my previous Android too, so the only totally new experience for me would be a Windows phone. Thanks Matt |

i just finished a 3 week trial of a NOKIA Lumia 800, it was very nice if i'm honest and makes my iPhone 4 feel quite dated. I would say to check these out for sure..
Other phones that i have not personally tried include the Sammy Galaxy S3, and HTC One X... I hear they are both very good don't forget though the iPhone 5 should be announced soon-ish (sort of!)... so keep your eyes peeled for that if you're due an upgrade. |

Matt, have a play with my S2 on Saturday when we meet up. S3 will be even better.

I'm a iPhone fan. But the S3 I've had a go of this week is extremely impressive.
It may not do some things as well as a iPhone (I still prefer the iOS interface for example and the way it syncs with my other Apple devices is seamless) but the Samsung will do many things better than an iPhone...Android's superior web browsing coming to mind and it also works better as a 'phone' with features that just make it neater to use. And, being the latest and probably one of the greatest phones out right now (well, very shortly anyway) means it has to be in your top two. The other being the eagerly anticipated iPhone5 And for my usual plug, all in the name of helping my follow forum members get the best mobile device deals , feel free to add yourself to my thousands (yes, really!) of pre-orders by ordering what is probably the UK's best priced S3's on www.mobiles.co.uk |

I've tried them all and always come back to the iPhone. It may not do each thing as well as another phone bu it is so easy to use and in my opinion is the best all rounder.

The S3 will more then likely be a better phone but it is massive... its more of a mini tablet.... but if your ok with that then you should be fine.. the spec is very impressive on it.. but like the others say.. the new iphone will be out towards the end of the year i would say and if you want to wait for that then I would...

i just left my htc desire, which was awesome (i dont buy the iphone on prinicipal)
got a sensation xe, which was brilliant, untill it upgraded itself (i presume to latest OS) its now dog slow and keeps rebooting. I was going to go for a oneX, but its absolutely massive, as is the S3, physically get one in your hands and see first, i was put off

You need to back up your data and restore to factory settings. I preferred gingerbread to ice cream sandwich. |

A friend's son & daughter both have the Galaxy s3 which they really like.
I personally prefer the iphone for itunes compatibility, although never did find out if any other phones will work with itunes - anybody know? |

I'm currently using a HTC Desire S and I'm very impressed with it. Had a Desire before it too, and I'll most likely grab whatever the current HTC equivalent is when I'm due an upgrade next year.

You only lose what is on the phone memory. All data on SD card is safe.
Copy contacts over to sim card to store them to be extra safe. This is how to reset the phone. Be sure to have saved your data by this point. http://www.htc.com/uk/help/htc-sensation-xe/ Back up. Should be easy with HTC software. There should be a simple option to back up. Anything you can't lose copy to SD card or drag over to PC. You can also get SMS backup and restore from the android market to save all your text messages. |

Not sure why you would see that as a positive as even apple fans try and avoid iTunes. |

Slightly off topic, has anyone had any problems with the BMW Bluetooth & Android, my HTC Desire frequently disconnects & reconnects but BMW don't want to know because I'm running later software than that tested by BMW as compatible. It did the same with another HTC Desire, a Nokia N8 and an old iPhone, but they still aren't interested! Last edited by IanS100; 05-24-2012 at 09:20 AM.. |
