Anyone ever heard of a B4C?

This is a 1995 Chevy Camaro B4C Special Service Coupe. These were intended to be a highway patrol chase cars, but since they are very rare (250-400 made per year) and very fast, collectors try to get them. I had to go to 23 Chevrolet dealers before I found one willing to order a B4C for a private individual. Typically, these cars have automatic transmissions, A/C, power windows/locks, and not much else. This one has a 6 speed manual, power leather seats, Delco-Bose sound system, and every other thing I could find to add to its build sheet. It has 10,650 miles, and has been driven in the rain.

I have been busy for the last several years taking care of my mother who was bedridden with MS, so this car has been severely neglected for the last 4 or 5 years. (All I'd do with it is move it out of the way to use the shop for tire rotations, oil changes, etc. then lock it back up in the shop.) I lost my mother the day after Christmas last year.

With the holidays upon us, I've decided that staying extra busy is the best course of action. I installed all new lighting out in my shop (average of 80-100 footcandles now), some new electrical outlets and some new compressed air outlets. I had to pull this out to have room to work. Since it was out, and the day was nice, it was time for a bath. When I finished washing it, I figured that the most fun way to dry it off is to take it for a ride through the mountains! This is the first time it's left my property since 2005 (Stabil works!) It's not a mega-buck European import, but it's a very rare car and a helluva lot of fun to drive and it's just like new.

I thought I'd snap a quick pic for fun and post it up.

I borrowed a G-Tech from a friend and tried it. Taking it easy on the clutch and tires, I got 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, quarter mile in 14.0@100. Car and Driver claims a top speed of 155. I haven't tried it, but it's still accelerating pretty strong @128. Bear in mind, this is a 1995 model. That's a few years before performance really started on the upswing. The B4C Camaro was one of the fastest cars around with a moderate price tag back in its day.

Rawhyde, cool car. I never knew GM made it.

Do you have any pics of your shop. What did you use to run the air lines, black pipe or PVC?

Thanks for sharing your garage queen. If you enjoy it, keep it.

If not, let it move on to the next enthusiast.
