18s or 19s on standard height e92?
Hi
I just recently got a e92 in montego blue. At the moment its away to get the aero lip and msport side skirts fitted. (cant wait!) Im now thinking about changing the wheels. It currently has 18" 5spoke star alloys ( i think style 219 but not sure). The problem i face is that due to the crappy roads where i live i would rather not lower the car. I lowered my last 2 cars and lived to regret it. So on a standard height car do you guys think 18s or 19s would look better? I would love some deep dish wheels but dont know if i can pull off the look without lowering. All comments appreciated |

on stock height i'd say 18s, just because 19s tend to make the car look like it's floating if it's not dropped

Yeah, that was my feeling. Just that i really fancied a set of deep dish wheels but think they will look too small in 18s. Oh well maybe ill just go for a flat faced wheel for now.
Unless anyone has any other ideas on how to improve the look of standard height car on 19s. I just realised this is in the gallery forum. Mods may want to move to general forum. |

Believe me i would love to drop it. But dont think i could live with it on the roads here. So many damn pot holes everywhere
Out of curiosity, anyone know how much of a drop would bmw sports suspension give me? Last edited by imygaf; 12-10-2012 at 09:24 AM.. |

lol i've lived in places with horrible roads n i still have lowered all my cars , but to answer your question if you're comparing non-sports vs sports as in (cars that come with sports package) the drop is not much at all, i already actually assumed you had sports package when i typed my first post lol, there is only a difference really when you're going from xi suspension to sports package

19's. Always 19's. Even on stock suspension 19's look better unless you get a 20 series tire or something.
Had 18's on my E90 330i and always thought they looked small. And now I REALLY can't stand the 17's on my E91! |

If you have poor road conditions you may want to stay with 18" wheels. 19" wheels are only for looks, IMO, and don't drive as well. I've had numerous setups on two 335's and really like the way 18" wheels handle poor roads, much less the improved ride quality. You could stick with 18" stockers and put 10mm spacers up front and 15mm spacers in the rear to poke them out a bit. That would improve the look and keep more sidewall for comfort/damage protection.

That's beautiful! I am thinking of just wheels without a drop as well.
I have a sport package sedan and considering VMR 710s 18s or 19s without a drop, any suggestions?

Those pictures look great. Don't need no moar low.
I'm putting 19s on my E90 without a drop. I may get coilovers once I save up again. I'm really considering some AG wheels (355) instead of the Vossens I wanted. I just can't see myself spending an extra $700 on just wheels, but you never know. Last edited by MattMD; 12-10-2012 at 02:09 PM.. |

The blue coupe in the pictures appears to be a 335i which, I'm sure, normally has the sports suspension fitted as standard on the E92 (even in non M Sport trim). Therefore, yours should ride approximately 15mm higher than this. |

My car is a SE model. I drove it home from the dealer and then it just sat there for about 5 weeks. Ive not even really had a good look at it again because when i get home from work its already dark, so cant actually remember how high it sits at the moment.
How would i check if its sports or standard suspension? I dont remember the ride being overly soft so im not too sure. But this is my first bmw so ive nothing to compare it to. If my car is going to sit 15mm higher than the 335 then i dont think its going to look that great. I may just end up dropping it although id rather not. Sorry for the noob questions but like i said its my first bmw |
