Aloha,
Actually there are plenty of bimmers on the island. When I bought mine there were not as many of the new model. Well I don't know what historical facts you are looking for. The islands were discovered by the Polynesians, who gave them the name Hawaii. When Captain Cook discovered Hawaii, he renamed them The Sandwich Islands. 1810 King Kamehameha the Great unites all the Hawaiian islands into one kingdom. Hawaii was a native kingdom throughout most of the 19th century, when the expansion of the sugar industry (pineapple came after 1898) meant increasing U.S. business and political involvement. In 1893, Queen Liliuokalani was deposed, and a year later the Republic of Hawaii was established with Sanford B. Dole as president. Following annexation (1898), Hawaii became a U.S. territory in 1900. The Japanese attack on the naval base at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, was directly responsible for U.S. entry into World War II. Hawaii, 2,397 mi west-southwest of San Francisco, is a 1,523-mile chain of islets and eight main islands—Hawaii, Kahoolawe, Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau. The Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, other than Midway, are administratively part of Hawaii. Hawaii's highest peak is Mauna Kea (13,796 ft). Mauna Loa (13,679 ft) is the largest volcanic mountain in the world by volume. Honolulu is 4028sq ft in size approximately 18 miles across and about 30 miles in length. I hope this gives you more of an insight. If you want to see more of Hawaii rent 50 first dates, Blue Crush and LOST. Check out some of these websites. http://www.hotspots.hawaii.com/ http://www.hawaiianwatershots.com/ http://www.gohawaii.com/about_hawaii...nts_in_hawaii/ Hawaii is a great place to live. Great weather, food and culture. Hope this helps a little.

+1 Seeing the pics makes me homesick too.
Btw, does that picture of the beachfront of Waikiki seem like the water is getting closer inland than before? I could have sworn that not too long ago that the water didn't wash up that closely to the Waikiki Sheraton.
