Unable to shift into 2nd pass 6k rpm.
I'm having a situation where I'm unable to shift into second at 6k+ rpm from a dead stop. It has happen to me on several occasion and it's very frustrating. I've tried searching and went through several pages with no avail. Has this happen to anyone? Is there a solution or has my syncro's gone bad. I usually drive spiritly and on occasion would floor it from the light. I rarely get to drive the car. Put 10k on the cars in 2yrs, and any solution would be great. Im Jb4+dci

1-2 second is a bitch in these cars, I have to shift super slow for it to work.

I find I can't even wind out 1st gear if I expect to have any traction for 2nd anyway. I short shift into 2nd.

The 1-2 shift is horrible. For it to engage I have to short shift at 5500rpm for it to go into second. I'm thinking of doing a tranny flush and the clutch fluid.

It happens to me on occasion too...the shifter pops sideways out of first b4 I can blink. Is this what you guys feel or actual gear grind?
I think its due to excess twist in the tranny/engine mounts, especially when tuned with tons of torque. I think upgrading to UUC transmission mounts + 335is passenger side engine might mitigate the issue. I can't comment on the increased harshness tho, Dzenno would be a good person to ask on the other forum...he has switched to these mounts |

I've seen nothing but failures with RE, UUC, whatever mounts - urethane or rubber, they both fail, some sooner than others, but they all suck. Go with OEM E46 M3 trans mounts. Cheaper, too.

I have the same problem, can't stand it. Switched to redline, didn't really help at all. I'll have to try the e46 M3 mounts+IS engine mount...

I have the same problem. I have to shift at a lower RPM to get it into gear under without grinding. People didn't believe me and insisted that I am not driving manual right. But, I can do it in the 540i just fine... :@

great, just purchased the black ones... we'll see how they do. My 1to2 isn't so bad, but there's definitely more concentration involved. The tranny mounts are for the occational drivetrain "bang" when shifting fast/hard. Not sure what it is exactly, but thought i'd try some added stiffness.

I ripped a set of Red UUC trans mounts in half the first day I installed a gt35r.....comical.
I'm now running AKG mounts and they work great and are holding up. My urethane engine mount however is crumbling in front of my eyes from excessive heat from the exaust manifold......ugh.

What can we do for xi models. They have different mounts??? I can't find anything out there.....that 1-2 gear is killing me on drag strip.

A shift knob isn't going to fix the issue at hand. I have the same issue as the OP and I agree it can possibly be fixed by more solid tranny/motor mounts. Will that fix it idk, that needs to be tried out by someone who can delineate between a sucky transmission and mount movement.
