Torco
I have a question about Torco, can I add two cans instead of one and would that help bring up the octane level? I am running one can of Torco with 3 gallons of 103 octane and the rest is 93 octane and ran map 7 with 16/17 psi and car pulls great. Just wondering if I can add more torco as a cheaper alternative? So I add 3 gallons of 103 octane to about 9 gallons of 93 octane plus two 32 oz bottles of torco... What do you all think? once in a while I run 60/40 mix of 103 and 93 but it does get expensive to do it every other week considering I pay $130.00 for 10 gallons of 103 octane lol.

1 can of torco Mach series should be used with 15 gal on 93 which will yield a 100 rating. I would NOT stack 2 bottles! There is a PDF on the torco site for mix ratios, I'm on my phone doing the reply so I can't add it to this thread, but just don't do it. This additive (and NOS Octane boost) contain MMT and you don't want too much of that in ur engine. Pull one of ur plugs and that will tell you why. Mix Sunoco 104 with 93 or use 1 bottle of torco... Be safe.

The most Torco I would run is 2- 32oz cans per 10 gals. Adding more after that it does absolutely nothing and caps out a 101 octane. This has been proven by independent testing. The ratings that Torco gives on the can is incorrect. The numbers below were an independent test done with very accurate equipment and other shops got identical results when they tested them as well. I can try to dig up an old thread with more info but it may take me a while. I build some very high power mustangs on the side. The pump gas street cars that I build in the 700-800rwhp range we run 2 32oz cans per 10 gals of 93octane. However you are going to go through spark plugs very frequently depending how much you run the torco so beware. It puts an orange/copper color coating on the plugs and after a while the car will start to misfire. You will see your exhaust turning this color as well. So be prepared to change your plugs often.
Follow the link below for the table, you may have to sign up to see it, for some reason this forum will not let me post it correctly. The #s Torco gives on the can are rated using RON-(Research octane). The #s that you see at the pump and that we talk about are PON. Which is RON+MON(motor octane) \ 2. RON #s are higher then what you would see at the pump. This is not what you want to go by. The can is a little misleading. Try this link http://www.modularfords.com/f107/tor...le-tech-94528/ If you cant view it I will try to break it down better. 32oz + 5 gals of 93= 101 32oz + 10 gals of 93= 98 32oz + 15gals of 93 = 96 Last edited by Juiced46; 07-29-2012 at 09:51 AM.. |

Very good info, thank you! I guess I am going to mainly stick with 103 octane once in a while when I want to play :-)

Guys - I must WARN you - 2 cans is WAY TOO MUCH in a 10 gallon amount.
PLEASE view this mixture link straight from TORCO. LINK: TORCO MIXTURE PDF GUIDE For 101 Rating (assuming you are mixing with 93 PREMIUM), you do 51 OZ. of TORCO to 15 US GALLONS. Look at the mixture PDF - download it and print it out. Mechanics will know HOW you blew a seal or a rod because the inside of your engine will be bright orange from too much MMT. Be careful Sam335ix.

1-32oz can to 15gals is only 96 octane not a 100 rating like you mentioned in your first post. Using 2 32oz cans to 10 gals will not hurt anything. It will not damage your rods or "seals". Please tell me how it will damage the rods using to much Torco? I would love to hear this one.... It doesnt matter if you use 1 32oz can, 2, 3, 4 etc, it will turn the plugs, tops of the pistons and your exhaust orange, regardless of quantity. |

So far I have only used two cans on two seperate fill ups... I guess it's safe to say I have Orange on the plugs already? Does using 103 octane fuel cause any coloring issues with the plugs (probably not but want to be sure). Looks like I have to sell the remaining 4 bottles of torco lol.

I choose to follow the manufacturers mixture settings - regardless of RON/MON/PON ratings. The manufacturer made that chart I posted above for a reason. If you want to use twice as much as that chart stated, do so at your own risk, but it's foolish IMO.

You are right its very foolish..... Its only been working in 9 second street cars that I have built and been using it in for the past 7 years plus the other thousands of people that have success with it in cars that make more then double what these N55s are capable of.
Per the chart you posted. They are saying 64oz in 10 gals to get 107octane. My point is, that it is not a true 107 octane. Because they do not use a PON rating and yes it DOES matter what rating you use. A 107 PON rating and a 107 RON rating are a HUGE difference! It can be as much as 6 points. You guys see the big deal with tunes with a 2 point octane difference from 91 to 93 and how critical it is to run the correct octane even at those low levels. If you are tuning your car thinking you have 107 but its really 101 then bad things can happen. I am trying to provide correct info for the people that may not know. Now if you choose to listen or not thats fine. I know what works, I have been using this stuff for a LONG time. I have provided the facts and I know for a fact that this Torco tops out at 101(PON) octane, nothing more. Tell me this. Whats the difference in running 1 32oz can in 5 gals vs running 2 32oz cans in 10 gals?? NOTHING! Its the same mixture! so please tell me how its foolish? Also I am still waiting to hear how it will "blow a rod" |

How often are you going to plan on running the race fuel or Torco? Im assuming not for everytime you take the car out correct? I would still use the Torco, it works and its a much cheaper alternative. But if you use it religiously you may just have to change your plugs more frequently that is all. |

It's amazing they have no problem admitting they are using misleading advertising. If they're going to advertise the ending RON number, then they should use the starting RON number too. Yet, they start with the AKI / pump number, and tell you how you can arrive at a RON number... Apples to apples? NOT! http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...=1#post2164035 . . .
